Re: China

I appreciate that Spyderco makes knives in many countries...including China. I have owned, at one time or another, a number of Spydercos from China. However, I am glad that most Spydercos are not made there. For so many products the only option is "Made in China". With quality knives, fortunately ...

Re: MBC Slipjoint

That Nidhug looks very much like one of the discontinued Lansky knives. I never owned that one, but still have the hawkbill.

Re: MBC Slipjoint

I have the Victorinox hawkbill with the straight handle. I figured it might come in handy if I ever was some place a locking hawkbill was illegal.

To me, the best slipjoint hawkbill for self-defemse is the the Lansky Madrock hawkbill. Once it's opened, it doesn't close easily. It's long ...

Another use for the Balance. KaliGman used to have a pretty good presence on the Forum.

Been here about 16 years now. I too remember when there were lots of threads on using knives for defense...and maybe even for combat.

The S.P.OT. is one of my favorite knives. I'd in up for another one.

The S.P.O.T. is very under appreciated, in my opinion.

Re: Lava new sprint run?

I am not interested in the steel much either as long as it has at least the corrosion resistance of VG10. So, Magnacut would work for me.

I would prefer the original blade shape and not a wharncliffe.

It's design from Hawaii. I would go with some more rust resistant steel and micarta or plain SS version to keep it slim in pocket.
I agree.

Re: Smaller P'kal

Actually, I should say it was my favorite folder of the ones the are at some point going into production. There were a couple others that I liked a lot that may or may not be made.

Re: Smaller P'kal

I handled it at the Taipei Meet last November. It is smaller, but it felt good in my hands. Perhaps a person's hand size makes a difference.

The blade tension on the original (at least mine) was too loose for me. I got rid of it after it inadvertently opened in my pocket a couple of times.

The ...

Re: Police XL Talk

Based on pure reliability, I would prefer a good back lock on a 5" bladed folder. It can and has been done. I have a Cold Steel XL folder from years ago with a 6" blade that has a back lock (from years before CS was using the Tri-ad Lock) that is super strong. I don't know if I would trust a ...

Re: Folding knife for food or use in restaurants

Salt Wharncliff works well for me.
No one has ever been scared of it and some have admired it. The knife is easy to clean and easy to sharpen.
