Nice rod….Kabuto?
You have an excellent eye, that is a Kabuto! 7'6" 4wt. It is an amazing rod, Kab is a real craftsman.
Yes he is, I owned a 7’6” 3 weight for quite a few years. His bamboo reel seats are a give a way :smlling-eyes

Re: How have your preferences changed over the years?

When this thread started, I wondered what similar changes could be observed, on average, as time passed and people got further into the hobby. I'm not seeing much of a pattern. People seem to go all different directions with this hobby! Some go light, others heavy; some go long, others short; some ...

Re: Chaparral

Moving the spring slightly forward worked quite well. Entire process took maybe ten minutes including fresh lube. Thanks again!

Re: Chaparral

I got the FRN version this week. A nice knife but it is very thin. The lock is a bit hard to disengage but will get better with use. The thin blade is one of the best parts! The lock on mine never got any softer until I did something about it, if you ever take the knife apart, take the time to move...

Re: Spyderco for steak

I like using a serrated Z-Cut or a coarse-edge Mule for food prep and eating. They stay sharp longer than my other kitchen knives. And I smile big when I use them! https://i.postimg.cc/HL46KGr8/IMG-E4775.jpg Nice…the Z-Cut is a super utility knife. The introduction of the Sharpmaker made serrated e...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

Are there torque values listed for the various screws/models? Thank you, AF Check out Wiha recommendations here https://www.wihatools.com/pages/torque-screwdriver-blades-guide You have to exercise some caution using the smaller sizes for titanium screws. William Henry uses some tiny ones. Easy to s...

I have a lefty SS Executive (it is a super EDC) that I've owned for many years. I sure would love a Co-Pilot in SS or G-10 (with ambi clip of course).

Well, got mine today. Great knife for a right handed person, but not working out as well as I thought it would for a lefty....opening is a hassle.

Oh well....I'll guess I'll stick with my G-10 Dragonfly.

I'm hoping mine will show up before Christmas. I was wondering how well it would work out as a lefty (being a member of the sinister sixth). The blue/gray looks very nice.

I did buy the Tak Fukuta ceramic blade with magnesium scales a few years later. I kept it for a number of years, and sold it to a good friend. I don't remember the ceramic edge having enough bite for some materials....too smooth perhaps.

The JD Smith is a slicer. The Chowke or Rock Lobster (a monster of a blade) would work.

LH Executive

I've owned (and used) this little guy for twenty years. It was my first Spyderco and still one of my favorites. And yes I still have the foil wrapper :)

I failed to buy the LH Co Pilot the store had in stock... :o
