Re: REX45 Para 3 Lightweight

Well, this came in the mail yesterday. Very puzzling how optics planet got a brand new one of these a year after they sold out everywhere. I'm not complaining though! https://i.imgur.com/jBWPMjY.jpg Same thing happened with me and the Burnt Orange Rex45 Paramilitary-2 and an online retailer... they...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

Sharpmaker diamond rods at Dack are down to 34.99 before shipping, about 44 shipped for me. That’s the best price I’ve seen on them so I think I’ll place an order. They're worth it. Turns the sharpmaker from an edge maintainer to an edge former. I own a pair of the diamond sharpmaker rods, but I ne...

Re: CBN Benchstone Comparison Question

I have both, and in my opinion the coarse cbn is more aggressive than the coarse dmt, the fine cbn is comparable to the fine dmt, but I find the cbn fine cuts faster. Hope this helps. That is helpful, thank you. Which do you prefer DMT diamond vs. CBN? I already have a set of DMT benchstones (X-coa...

CBN Benchstone Comparison Question

How does the new CBN Benchstone from Spyderco compare in coarseness to the DMT benchstones (coarse/X-coarse/XXCoarse, etc.)? I'm curious which DMT grit it's closest to.

Re: 2021 Forum knife?

I would love to see an updated Gen 1 Delica (pointy tip - I don't care if it's a FFQ or hallow grind), with titanium scales, and a carbon steel like Hap40/Rex45, Cru-wear, M4, etc. (depends on where it's made, I suppose). I don't really care if it's a forum knife or a special limited run.

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

Well, since I started this thread, maybe I should chime in again. My purpose for starting this wasn't to complain about price increases... only to inquire about plans (which we now have an answer to) for purchase planning. I trust Spyderco as a company to charge what they need to charge to stay in b...

Re: Machete by Spyderco?

Spyderco did a line of Hossom fixed blades of various sizes more than a decade ago... the largest was the Forrester with over a 9 inch blade. Not quite machete length, but still intended to be a chopper. My understanding is they didn't sell well and the series was discontinued.

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

I'm curious if Spyderco is planning a 2021 MSRP increase across their products as they've done in years past to adjust for increasing costs in production? It was never because of production costs, and you wouldn't install a price control for "production costs" anyway. The price floor was instituted...

Hi Capt,

I think it's soon on our regular production, I thought I saw a notice, but I don't know if they'll be available before Christmas.

sal
Thanks Sal! Appreciate the update. Looking to upgrade my daughter from a pink Dragonfly to a pink Delica.

Re: SFO inventory

I was scrolling through the Spyderco.com knife inventory this morning and realizing that many of the knives through the SFO, especially the higher-end knives (lower production volume?), are "out-of-stock". I'm curious if this is normal for this time of year, or whether Spyderco is having production...

Hi Lumpy,

The Watu is made in Taichung, Taiwan so we more than likely use a USA steel like 52100 instead of Supere Blue, or some other USA made steel.

Hi Sal,
How about Rex 45?

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

I picked up the Super Blue Gyuto for 20% off when they were first released... It's the best kitchen knife I own (even beat out my Kramer/Zwilling carbon santoku) and easily my most used Spyderco. If it's in your budget, don't sleep on this! Ok, back to your regularly scheduled knife sales. It's not...

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient

Sal, et al. Is there enough potential sales value in trying to make further use of the Taichung investment that made these machined handles possible? The Proficient didn't sell all that fast and unless its possible to make some changes that reduce manufacturing cost then I don't see a reason a new ...

Re: Spyderco Face Mask (now bandana, hat and patch)

Hi Dazen, Masks are becoming a bit of an issue as to their function. I've recently hear that the visors that re being used are not effective. The plexiglass pieces used for separation are also not effective. Two layer masks are not effective. Three layers minimum. Most masks with three or more laye...
