Re: It's been 40 days...

I'm down to 11 Spydies and 1 Byrd!
Have to say I don't have the itch anymore. I think the serial acquirer in me is dead or at least in hibernation.
I want a CQI Ikuchi. Nothing else on the radar.
It's weird to not even own a PM2 anymore.

Re: Questionable Techno 2 Lockup

That lockup is normal. That's how liner/frame locks are supposed to engage. Otherwise there's lock rock.

Re: St. Nicks Knives Exclusive hint - Lil Native?

Actually thought they'd sell out sooner. I didn't see a Paypal option so I sort of fumbled for my credit card. Turned out I had plenty of time to spare.

Re: Reveal, lack of anticipation, general thoughts.

The Reveal program didn't change anything for me. That said, my feverish excitement over new knives has waned. I've actually reduced my Spyderco collection to 10 including 2 that remain in unused condition. A few years ago I had 30 or so. It feels great to lighten the load and I don't think I'll go ...

Re: Spyderco 2019 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Parata is a no go for me. Totally impractical and not even that cool looking, IMO. :)

Re: Ikuchi

I think bearings would be more appropriate if feasible. Perhaps the tang is too small to accommodate bearings. The hole in the handle didn't bother me. I was pretty happy with mine after sanding down the spine slightly. But with the scarcity I decided to sell into the demand. Most often my light use...

Re: Ikuchi

Wonder if we'll see a CQI version later this year. I sold mine after remedying the exposed tip. I want another one. I won't complain if they make the action a bit slicker too - bearings?

Re: Asking for advice: How to restore a (just slightly) blunted tip?

Using flat benchstones like my DMT plates would quickly restore that tip to a needle point with normal sharpening.

Re: Spyder Flick or Thumb Flick

I do both or neither for most lockbacks. Spydie flick is more for fun because it requires a slight grip adjustment.

Needs a fully straight spine otherwise it’s more of a harpoon shape without a swedge.

Your best bet is if BHQ does their exclusive. Otherwise I don't think it will happen.

I've taken some to the belt sander too although I prefer doing that with other brands that I consider more disposable.

I like it as is without jimping. I'm guessing the comp lock version is much more popular and will get an exclusive run at BHQ.

Re: AFI Performance Flash Batch

The Centofante has a fairly shallow hollow grind. I took mine to a diamond stone and turned it into a flat grind. It's nearly zero ground and the edge was easily damaged. Chipping and rolling. After a few sharpenings it's better. The geometry was too aggressive. That said, I don't think it's a very ...
