Re: Pobody’s Nerfect! Para 3 calamity.

Not a big deal but the mix up shows why the name Para 3 was a confusing choice.

Re: Ikuchi - fantastic knife!

I'm happy with my Ikuchi now that I sanded down the tip so I wouldn't get cut when the knife is closed. I do not think the knife should have been brought to market in its current form. Spyderco is known for very thoughtful, refined designs, high quality manufacturing and an ownership/management that...

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!

Did we ever reach a consensus on whether the uneven lamination lines were purely cosmetic, or could cause issues after long term usage? I just got an SG2 Endura in, and the lamination line is twice as tall on one side compared to the other. Unless the lamination line actually crosses over into the ...

My reground Centofante 3. But the edge is so thin it's only for light use.

Re: Question: Sharpening just PARTS of the edge?

Yes I’ll go back and work on the dull spot rather than the whole edge. Of course I won’t hit just that spot exactly so when I make the final finishing passes I’ll go over the whole edge again.

Re: Pocket wear, Native 5 Lightweight

I wish they’d CQI it because the clips lands at the edge of the oval and it’s a pocket shredder. I sanded down the ridges and it’s good now.

Re: Discoloration and other Cosmetic Imperfections in knives: What will you tolerate or not tolerate?

I will tolerate a lot but I prefer cleaner samples. After years of collecting and knife making, I notice imperfections on most knives.

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

After more practice I can now open it easily with my thumb although it does require a bit of contortion to get my hand into position with the pinky braced against the bottom of the clip. I'll also add - since Spyderco takes a lot of flack for this on their flipper models- the detent is perfectly dia...

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

Good info Zatx. And congrats on a successful mod. It sounds like your ball is resting a little deeper in the detent. Of course if too much material were removed, the result would probably be slop or play in the ball detent.

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

I'll have to sand some from the choil where it rests against the stop pin; it's very easy for me to cut the pad of my finger/thumb with that laser-like tip. There is a lot of separation between the knife edge and the standoffs so I don't see any reason the blade can't sit deeper within the scales. ...

Re: A tip for opening the Ikuchi

I can't even come close to opening it with my thumb. Index finger works well. I noticed there's a detent ramp which is a nice touch. Do other Spydercos have a detent ramp?

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

It's a slick knife. The tip is a bit exposed. I sanded the spine a little. It doesn't take much. I started with 400 grit and then 600 grit.

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

Disengagement of the lock is not difficult for me at all. My fingers are not especially thick. Blade action is a bit stiff but should get slicker.

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

The pivot turns from the non-clip side. Yeah the blade isn't very recessed when closed but I have to jam a finger in for the tip to catch. It carries tip up against the side of the pocket. Doesn't seem like an issue.
