Thanks for your input guys. Shootist or anyone else, how do you think the D2 steel compares to the VG-10? I've heard D2 can sometimes be brittle.

I'm looking for a new large left-handed folder and think I have narrowed it down to these two knives. I like the idea of having a VG-10 Endura, but the benchmade and axis lock is still in the back of my mind. Does anyone know if the axis locks are similar in strength? Any advice?

I'm curious as to what locking mechanism do people prefer here for a knife used primarily for defense? What about pros and cons of some popular styles such as the linerlock, lockback, compression, axis, etc?
