Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread
Just got mine. Like the stonewash, contoured handle and heft; don't like the off centered blade and too-stiff pivot out of the box. Will try to remedy both this evening. (Anyone know if this uses a pivot bushing like the PM and Manix?) Sussed. Took about five minutes. Action felt like it was random...

I would love to see another hollow ground Manix 2. Not everything has to be ffg. Same thing happened to the Chinook.

Thanks. A few days in, the copper is already darkening up and getting some character. Cannot stop cycling it, just such a good feel.TheKnifeCollector wrote:Congrats!
Thank for the pix of your copper handled one. That looks really nice.

Re: Anyone see Apostle P's rant on Spyderco?
Haven't seen that one, but have seen a couple of his videos. Struck me as a guy trying too hard to be an "authority" on knives. Found that off-putting. I'm sure the guy has probably handled a lot of knives. Whether his personality is the greatest is debatable but I don't really question h...

5.38 oz. Not a lightweight, but I like the heft. Q&D pics as I'm sitting here watching tv. Still very much looking like a shiny penny. :-) http://i.imgur.com/s67tSrj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ncK9oyF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6psBN2E.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6GCckcy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Bbcy75z.jpg

Re: Southern grind spider monkey?
Zombie bumping this one, on the off chance anyone is still interested. I just got a copper handled Spider Monkey and am immediately impressed. Whoever designed and built this model knows and loves knives. I mistakenly thought they were just kind of a gimmick brand to grab some sales from Zac Brown f...

Re: Southard Positron (Ion) Status Check
Got mine today. Nice compact package. Nested liners give it a sturdy feeling despite the size and relatively light weight. Feels well made. Flipping action is fine. Doesn't have a strong enough detent for an explosive action, but it is smooth and works more or less effortlessly. The blade finish is ...

Thanks for the link to the video.
Liner looks sufficiently thick, was afraid it would be really thin. Looking forward to handling it in person in another couple of days.

Re: Southard Positron (Ion) Status Check
Im REALLY hoping its not Rubicon pointy. lol. Agreed. That and the Viele Phoenix...remember that one? Every time my hand would even graze past my pocket...I'd get poked by the sharp corners sticking up. And forget about trying to reach into the pocket while the knife was still clipped in place. I m...

Re: Southard Positron (Ion) Status Check
Mine just shipped. Specifically curious about two things: how thick is the lock bar/liner and how stabby is the butt end of the handle...looks pointy and hoping the points have been knocked off the corners.

Re: CS Exclusive Orange Paramilitary 2 DLC CTS-XHP
Got mine Thursday. It's nice...love the colors...but my S110V is way sharper and smoother out of the box. Action on my "Halloween" Para 2 is tight, and the edge while fine for actually cutting something lacks that "omg that's sharp!" refinement I've come to expect. But, the actio...

The 0770 (and the 0777 from which it is derived) was not designed by Rick Hinderer. It is a KAI USA in house design project led by Jim McNair.TomAiello wrote:The only knife that regularly knocks Spydies out of my pocket is my Zero Tolerance 0770 (cf/m390) which is a Hinderer Collab.
