When I first got mine, it was just as you described yours. I'd recommend a little Tuff-Glide; a drop or two placed right along the area where the detent ball contacts the tang. This smoothed mine out nicely. Also, if the threadlocker is too tight on the pivot, use a hair dryer or any other heat sour...

I've always wanted a P'Kal but I can't justify the relatively high price for a knife that would be a dedicated SD only. I've handled one before, and while it feels great in the hand for reverse grip edge in, it's not very well suited to other utility tasks. So I guess I'm saying I would like one, bu...

I've had two S90V Para 2's. The first one had a lock so sticky that it was nearly impossible to operate. Spyderco customer service replaced it for me. The second one (the replacement) was good when I first got it, but now it has a sticky lockbar. Somehow, breaking it in has had a negative effect. Al...

I like my Mini Manixes, but think they're too heavy and bulky, compared to the new Manix 2. I understand why one would prefer the Mini Manix to the regular production Manix 2, but a flat ground Manix 2 with skeletonized liners beats the Mini Manix IMHO. Mine feels quite light, especially for its si...

Bring back the Mini Manix
For the longest time I was a Manix 2 fan. However, as my Spyderco experience grows, and having just received a Mini Manix (which I paid an arm and a leg for) I can say how wrong I was. I now believe it is a better knife than the M2 in every way, especially the lock. I would love to see it brought ba...

I'll offer a different perspective. I like back locks the best because of their construction. I've owned every type of lock Spyderco makes (except the bolt action Sage) and I've taken them all apart to analyze their function. In my experience, the back lock offers the most solid and reliable constru...

It reminds me of the Rock Salt. The blade and handle shape are similar. I wish it had a thick back lock like the Chinook or original Manix. I don't understand why people prefer an RIL for a hard use knife. The lock is only as strong as its weakest point, which is the cutout on the RIL. I was under t...
