Dragonfly Question

Dear All,

I have just started carrying a Dragonfly, as new knife laws here in Oz have spooked me a little about carrying my Endura. Anyway, how robust is that plastic clip? Can I clip the thing into my pocket on a regular basis? Or will it wear the clip out and break it?

Cheers, Acolyte.

Knife idea

Dear All, While thinking about blade limits I had a bright idea. Maybe this has been suggested before, but I haven't heard of it. In many places there is a three inch limit on blade length. Some guys who carry for self defense are frustrated by the fact that this leaves them carrying a little knife,...

Hi All, I have just finished a very interesting book called "Continuing The Storm", by Avigdor Haselkorn. Not only does he make the point that Iraq has put up such a smokescreen surrounding their WMD that no one really knows or could know for sure, but he suggests that Gulf War 1 was ended...

They were installing extra memory, if I recall correctly. That is a hardware problem, and they may have had extra problems occur as well. For some reason it is taking them longer than anticipated. Fertiliser occurs!!

And the capital of Italy was not constructed in 24 hours.

Footwork problems

Dear All, Maybe someone can help me with my two left feet. I like the stance promoted by Mike J, foot forward slightly on knife hand side, knife at about waist level, offside hand up by face, etc. I can move forwards or back easily and quickly. I can move diagonally back to the left or forward to th...

An chance of a picture? I thnk I have the idea, but a pic would simplify things a little. Incidentally, what problems with your choice of material? Does it wear out easily?

Dear All, I still think Guest has a valid point. The name can, and will, be brought up in court to try to portray a defendant as some kind of tough, vigilante type guy looking for trouble. I do agree that ParaMilitary has bad connotations in lots of places and minds. Why do you suppose so many good ...

Good question! I'll respond here, under the actual topic title, rather than the original post. Awareness is the easiest to practice, as you can keep a lookout constantly. Anytime I find myself seeing someone walk past me or up to me without being aware, I review the cues that I normally watch out fo...

Spyderco ring

Dear All, Was just contemplating upgrading my jewellery collection to include a nice gents signet ring, as well as my wedding ring. It occurred to me that a nice ring with the spyderco bug on it might be fun to wear. Anyone else, or is it just me? One question remains: would it be made in silver, go...

Dear Clay, I'm not familiar with this video. What's the content? If it is the Sharpmaker video, I already have that. Is it a list of dealers, or something like that? If it is intersting, I might be able to trade something for you. Are you interested in Wing Chun, since I have a book called "Bil...

Rust problem

Dear All, I have noticed a spot of rust or two on the blade of my FRN Endura. One of the spots is in the engraving, and the other is where the edge stops on the blade. Any ideas as to how I can get this off? Could I work some metal polish into the engraving with a toothbrush, say? Cheers, Neophyte.

Lubrication

Dear All, The time has come to lubricate my favourite knife, the Endura FRN. Unfortunately I don't know how to go about it. I know I should use oil or silicone, as the Edge-U-Cation page says. However I carry my knife in my pocket and am concerned about getting lubricant on my clothes. Is this a pro...

I'm with you guys. The Endura is a terrific knife, that has so much utility. It feels so confortable and the Spyderedge cuts superbly. The Sharpmaker marks it so easy to keep sharp. I love this knife. But I am a bit offended. Ugly? Why not just insult my wife!

Spydie saves homeymoon!

Well, just before Christmas I went and got married, instead of getting a few new Spydies. I think I made the right decision!! However on the homeymoon my bride and I were attacked by a crazed beast intent on savaging us and ruining our honeymoon, on Kangaroo Isalnd. I hadn't realised the fauna were ...

Safety Check

Dear All,

Reading Michael Janich's book I find I am a little unclear on the delivery of the safety check. Is it basically a palm heel strike to the body part being checked, usually the arm? Or is it more of a push than a blow?

Silent Opening

Dear All, I have noticed a few posts mentioning the difficulty of opening a folder quietly. Presently I am housesitting for some friends, to safeguard their house while they are away. During one night I woke up to some fairly suspicious sounds outside. I grabbed my Endura and began to open it. For s...

Dear Ken, I've had a bit more of a think about what you were saying, and it makes a bit more sense. I think I understand now how you are thrusting. I guess it is kind of a back and forth motion, which certainly would make the notion of trying to block such a thrust pretty scary. Thanks for your kind...
