Re: 10 years

I thought I had posted in this thread, guess not.

It was a good 10 years. It doesn't feel like it was long ago that you just started here. I guess I've been around for more than 10!

Time flies when you spend all your time being OCD about knives! :)

Re: CPM SPY27 | Edge Performance

Interesting! That initial report has me interested! I am a big fan of steels that have a more aggressive edge characteristic at any given grit. That’s actually why Cruwear is one of my favorites to sharpen. It’s not just that it “wants to get sharp” as you say, but it maintains its aggression even ...

Re: 3 Classics You Want To See As SPRINT RUNS

What ever happened to the Full Size Manix Lock back with Eric's lock improvements? S110V or S90V would be pretty sweet on that. Judging by how quickly the manix lock back was discontinued, I don't think they will be doing sprints or a bigger model. You're probably right. Do you know why? :p (It did...

Re: 3 Classics You Want To See As SPRINT RUNS

Ayoob and Calypso would be nice in K390. Hopefully we can get the clip on the Ayoob to be mounted closer to the end of the handle. That was my major gripe on the last sprint. What ever happened to the Full Size Manix Lock back with Eric's lock improvements? S110V or S90V would be pretty sweet on that.

Re: d2 the china line...?

It's hard to believe that none of the Chinese steel companies make a higher wear resistant steel. I mean, the knife market is kind of small for the steel companies. Aren't the better steels made for production in factories? Cutting massive amounts of paper or plastic? One of the steels I used to rea...

Time travelling?! lol, interesting choice of words. A lot of business owners have a lot of their time used up by work. I imagine Sal is a very busy guy! Maybe see if you can get a copy of "The Spyderco Story" book. The company was named after a high performance series of cars. I know he's mentioned ...

Re: New Guy

Welcome to the forum. Eventually, every clip will catch on _something_. It happened to me yesterday. You can usually take the clip off and bend it back with pliers. I usually bend the clips back to have an extreme amount of holding force because they'll gradually lose the holding force and/or catch ...

Re: Is SV30 Good for Cutting Coaxial Cables?

If you cut it with a knife, you might have to cut it again with some real cutters. Sometimes you end up with a diagonal cut with a knife.

I mean, unless you're also planning to carry around a piece of wood to cut the cable flat against or just cut against whatever is near the cable.

Re: S90V exclusives?

I thought a while back, we heard that all Golden models were going to get S110V treatment. I don't remember all of the details.

I think S110V and S90V are so close in performance that I would be happy with either.

Re: Byrd with high-end steel

I was wondering how much better D2 is than 8Cr13. I've been kind of on a cheap knife kick off and on recently. It seems like a lot of made in China knives come with AUS-8 or 8Cr13 (which translates to english as 440C :) ) or D2 is usually an option. Are the Chinese steel factories capable of making ...

Re: Bicycles? The latest, The Best?

The last company I worked at, I heard a few people talking about some good bikes that you can order and assemble and save yourself quite a bit of money.

Wish I would have gotten the name. I should probably search the internet to see if I can find it.

Re: Spyderco Endura Wave 13 year review

Nice review. I'm glad it lasted and that you still like it.

I wonder if it would be possible to do a FFG Emerson Opener. Or maybe a hollow ground similar to the Yojimbo 2.

(The name had to shift from "Wave" to "Emerson Opener" due to Leatherman owning the name "Wave".)

Re: Quality issue

Maybe remove (probably use a sharpening stone) a little off the end of the screw that is causing it. How much of a gap is there, a fraction of a millimeter? That might be all you'd need to take off the end of the screw. Maybe add something so the screw doesn't go so deep. The smallest washer in the ...

Re: SE 440V

Man I dunno I feel like some of you guys must never consider the need to reprofile serrations with a steel like this. I'm currently working on my S30V Native and it is taking literally thousands of strokes on the Sharpmaker on CBN rods. I have absolutely no interest in any steel that's more wear re...

Re: Para 3 mod for lefties

If somehow you can attach a piece of metal to the lock release from the spine to the opposite side, pressure in the same direction to release the compression lock would be the same pressure as a left hand liner lock.

Seems like a good idea. Maybe a production version/change.

This morning I went to the grocery store. Self defense carry: Yojimbo 2, Fusion, K390 Urban, Glock 43.

The rest of the day was just a Yojimbo 2 and DPx Heat in Elmax.
