Re: A call for help

I say get one of the K390 models from Seki. That Matriarch is pretty fun to me. My niece has been watching Grey's Anatomy, Blindspot is pretty entertaining, maybe watch Breaking Bad or Stranger Things. Go for some bike rides, explore, have a project to create something. I hope covid treats you well.

What's your super power?

I used to work with a guy who, when you'd ask him a question and it didn't take any special skill to find the answer, he would say something like "Reading is my super power." He would read to help you find the answer to your own question. 1. Maybe my super power is searching for a solution to a prob...

Re: The Perils of HIGH TECH Addiction

When I think about this, the humorous part to me is: We watch TV and movies about people turning into zombies and it's exciting. In real life and people turn into zombies when they're staring at their phones, it is much less interesting. Haha! In the same way we haven’t needed to bug-out into the w...

Re: Happy Birthday "Surfingringo"!!

Happy Birthday Lance.

Hopefully you get a prototype knife in the mail, catch a fish you've never seen before, then get to clean the fish with the prototype and have an awesome supper at the end of the day.

I bet this year will be good (or at least better) to you. :D

I also suggest IWB. I used to IWB carry a Yojimbo at 4:00 when I wanted to carry an extra self defense blade.

Now, when I'm on self defense carry, I have a Fusion fixed blade IWB at 4:00.

Is it totally impractical to think that I could sharpen my maxamet knife with the Spyderco sharpening kit?
I think you could do it with the Diamond or CBN rods. You can probably do polishing with the normal ceramic rods.

Maybe start a new thread instead of continuing a thread from 10 years ago. It is the month of Halloween, though. :)

Re: Spyderco’s best kept secret

Sal, I remember years ago that you said you carried a Manbug nearly every day? Is that still true? Has the new wharncliffe model booted your old one out of your pocket? Was the old one a G10 or FRN? They used to talk about.. what was it, a Mosquito ground Ladybug? https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtop...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

30% SE and 70% PE? That sounds like a typical Combo Edge. I believe they are talking about percentage of the run being SE, not the blades themselves. That does make a lot more sense. :) 30% SE and 70% PE? That sounds like a typical Combo Edge. Yeah I should have been more detailed in my explanation...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

It could be the whole "It's much easier to remove material than it is to add material." Are we going to make a new ED (Evil D) edge with the points rounded off at the factory? I bet you a million (or a few hundred) people who use SE for work would really appreciate it. Is there any type of cutting w...

The S was the new Q and it was pretty sweet as a small knife with a compression lock.

Maybe we need to try to discus why the S didn't do well.

Re: Besides salt water, what do you find causes rust the most?

People always say blood, there is sugar and oxygen in blood, so it makes sense.

A while back, some dude on here put a (H1) Salt knife in some concentrated chlorine and the blade looked like it melted. It was seriously eating the steel, it was black on the outside when he took it out.

I got in late on the Knifeworks one, but got it today. I'm fairly close to Louisiana, so shipping went pretty quick.

It does operate very nicely. At a glance, it does look very similar to BRG.

Re: Real vs Fake Bugout test

Probably the companies that think it's okay to copy a knife... they don't know what makes the knives better and they think it's okay to skimp on materials and tolerances. It's probably the customers who think it's okay to spend $20 on a knife that tells the manufacturer it's okay to spend half as mu...

Re: 12 reasons why the Delica is better than the Native

I'm glad I have both. Sometimes I prefer a smaller knife, sometimes I prefer a more comfortable knife. It probably depends on how much cutting and how tough of cutting you're doing to find out which of these two will work better for you. Native has a flat spine. The hump helps with controlled cuts, ...
