Re: Mr. Lester DeAsis passes

Rest in peace. He has left a pretty strong mark on this world and the industry.

A lot of people really love his stuff.

Re: C22 Michael Walker in 2019

My apologies if I offend anyone with this idea, but would anyone else like to see this knife made with a different lock? Or would that be too sacrilegious? I say only if we call it the "ZrowsN1s is crazy" sprint. Actually, you're probably talking about a different model sprint. I think almost every...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

1. Steel
2. Steel
3. Steel

Does that work? :p I try to get something a little better (whatever better might mean) than a standard steel. I like to try different things, but they don't usually act like night and day. They all cut.

Re: SE for cutting CPVC

There was a farmer guy on the forum a while back that posted pictures of what type of work he does. I remember he posted pictures of cutting some relatively large plastic tubing. If I can remember right, I think he used a plain edge Military. There was a guy worked as a residential Electrician and h...

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco

The majority of old, turn of the century razors that were available had very common shared steels. Mostly Sheffield crucible steel. In this day and age, the razor users want to try the modern super steels, but there are not many custom razor makers out there willing to. O-1 is old school and highly...

Re: K390 IS "The M4 Killer"

If this hasn't been said yet, k390 is Seki, M4 is Golden and Taichung. Steel isn't 100% exclusive, but a pretty good bet for model matching . But the k390 pm2. K390 Urban and K390 Pingo are Italy, I think Italy uses all Bohler steel. I kind of wish Italy made more of the models I love because I do ...

I think that would be pretty sweet if they bought another batch of Super Blue and made some more. The secondary market seems to like it.

Re: Paramilitary 2 - CTS-204p Question

On most holes, there is something of note. When they use a laser or a plasma cutter to cut the blade out (of a large sheet of steel) and to cut the hole out, there has to be a starting point. Usually the whole outside of the blade is finished, so you won't notice the starting point of the outside of...

Re: TKJ Spyderco exclusive cruwear ????

I'm not a fan of DLC either, I'm pretty happy with how satin steel looks regardless of if the steel is Stainless or not.

I do avoid a lot of these DLC sprints and exclusives.

Re: Black S90V Delica with blue liners - KW exclusive

Depending on how bad the black stain is, you could possibly remove it with metal polish and a little rubbing.

Some people think knives aren't supposed to be super pretty and that they are meant to be beaten up some, which is mostly true because of what they are meant to do.

Re: Help me identify this Paramilitary 2

Yeah, one of the first ones of the first run. 107 is the collector's club #, 107 is designated to a certain person who owned the collector's club subscription. If it wasn't the original Para 2, then the collector's club would have been marked with a V at the end to signify "Variant". Yours would be ...

Re: Manix Observations (C95 vs XL)

They look awfully close. Thanks for the photos. Does the M2 lockback feel too fat to you, or do you enjoy the width? Hey Vivi, thanks. To me, plus or minus a little bit doesn't matter too much. I do love the Manix 2, it is one of my favorite models (probably due to the fact that I'm not a heavy use...

Re: What Spydercos are you giving as Christmas presents?

A guy I work with carries a SS Cricket. I got in a trade a Nishijin Cricket about 2 years ago and had never used it or opened it and had planned on giving it to him. Friday I gave it to him. He told me that he got the Cricket because he saw me carrying Spyderco. (I never knew.) He was surprised that...

I like the lock back Manix 2. I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to translate that into an XL version.

*edit* I can get you a comparison of the C95 versus the lock back Manix 2.

8Cr13MoV. I got a few cheaper knives and the one with 8Cr13MoV has "better than I thought" edge retention.

Re: Spyderco Name Recognition?

I think Byrd is the solution for most American people. I used to be one of them. I would walk into Walmart, look at the knife counter and pick one based off what brand I thought was good and the price. I want to say from some of the people I've met: If they really need a sharp knife, they usually g...
