Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Folks in Maniago have been turning out some fun toys recently. Don’t see a lot of Dark Matter carbon fiber in production knives. Viper Turn Essential FCY (yellow carbon fiber, w/copper foil in the CF shred mix).

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Lionsteel sure do make a purty knife (MKM Colvera)! [I just wish they spent as much time as Sal, Eric and the crew fine tuning the subtle nuances prior to release. This will never flip open without a little wrist action. I can live with it, though.]

Re: My first post and a question

Hi Jay. Welcome to the forum. Hardware store is not always a bad idea. Craftsman makes a great little 18 bit multi screwdriver for under $10. I use it to make tweaks on my knives and I sent the granddaughter off to college with one for glasses repair and all miscellaneous. https://www.craftsman.com/...

Re: Knife Rights Featured on Sunday Washington Post Front Page

Mr. Ritter, I applaud your efforts to date. You seem to be making great progress on easing restrictions on spring assist and automatic knives. I'm wondering if you see any hope of improving restrictions on blade length to something more practical? Many states (including Illinois, where I live) are s...

Re: Suit knife

I second the Des Horn recommendation. I don't think Spyderco has ever put out a sweeter looking gentlemen's knife, with a smoother action. It's a piece of art. S30V; strong tip, even though it looks delicate. The other great thing is since they've been out there for so long, you can pick up the knif...

Any plans for partial serrated Hanan?

Title says it all; does anyone know if there is a partial serrated blade edge coming down the pike for the Hanan model? If anyone else sees a need, voice your opinions. I'm thinking something like it's competition the Benchmade Valet PS. A short section of serrations in the recurve would seem to me ...

Re: How about a Leafstorm sprint?

You either loved them (Leafstorms) or hated them; there seemed to be no inbetween. I love mine and have carried it more than any other in my rotation. In fact I've carried it so much the G10 has gotten quite beat up. For some reason the Jade Green G10 (I think that's what it was called) has started ...

Re: Sal, ever thought about a Sharpfinger "tribute" Sprint?

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! They still have to work on the spider pin, though; didn't get it quite right... LOL. If they can do that well on a moose and a frog shape, the spyder can't be that big a challenge (and yes I know, it would add $10 or $15 bucks to cost, but well worth it in cool f...

Sal, ever thought about a Sharpfinger "tribute" Sprint?

Supposedly patent protections have long since lapsed. A number of manufacturers have jumped in with their version. One of the longest running and all around best game cleaning designs ever made, but always done "cheap". Seems like it would be time to show'em how it's done Spyderco style. A...

Re: Joule and Mini Valloton release dates?

But what happened to the mini Valloton? Not in mid year catalog. If a Sprint, then when (approximately) will it drop? Did it get shelved, cancelled, postponed; give us a little hint?

Re: Joule and Mini Valloton release dates?

OK, so maybe I jumped the gun on the Joule, but Eric showed off the mini Valloton back in January in a Going Gear vid and said about 6 months. It's been about 6 months. It was not in the mid year catalog. Will this be a limited sprint run and is there any chance of a partially serrated blade option?...

Joule and Mini Valloton release dates?

Anybody heard any hints on approximate release dates for either the Joule or the Mini Valloton? Since Eric dropped the bomb and showed a (very fine looking) production model of the Mini on a Going Gear video, it can't be too far off.

Eric, any more hints for the fans?

Re: Steel choices for the Spyderco kitchen knives

Greetings JD Spydo; always nice to talk to someone with similar interests and tastes. I'm a little concerned your request might be stepping over the line for the Forum rules about keeping it "everything Spyderco", though. I got away with the F. Dick reference since I was talking with Sal d...

Re: Steel choices for the Spyderco kitchen knives

Sal, haven't yet had a chance to try one. I have not seen an F. Dick Jubilee Series knife anywhere in stores, nor seen an in-depth review from anyone other than a couple of Amazon customers about the knives, so I've been hesitant to spend that kind of money to try one out (especially when the VG-10 ...

I vote for the newer VG-12 steel

We've had a set of forged VG-10 Friedrich Dick kitchen knives for about 12 years. Best kitchen cutlery steel I've ever tried (and still looks like new, since it needs resharpening so infrequently). I would like to see either a large Chef's knife (9" or 10") or a Santoku in the newer VG-12 ...

Re: Anyone else super excited for the Szabo Hawk?

OldSarSwmr You go dude, if they change the edge configuration and make the edge more general purpose, I'll buy one too. Bearfacedkiller and SpyderNut I think I'm with you and would like to hear more about the more traditional hawk design in the works. BoDog Man, you need to chill a bit. This is a fr...

Re: Anyone else super excited for the Szabo Hawk?

BoDog, yes I was being a bit sarcastic. As a martial arts/armed forces people chopper, I think it would work great (plus it has a nice pry tool for crates and a useful hammer tool). I'm betting the majority of members here are not active armed forces, though, and need something that can chop or thro...

Re: Anyone else super excited for the Szabo Hawk?

I'm thinking this would make a wicked trophy piece for the "Man-Cave" wall. Right between the Klingon battle blades and the Zombie choppers. Perhaps add the MTech Huntsman and call it your Bushcraft/Survival section! http://a.tgcdn.net/images/products/zoom/2018_mtech_huntsman_survival_knif...

Re: Black Perrin PPT Sprint inbound

Wait is up; just ordered one from TheSpydercoStore.com (in-stock!). I love this blade shape, sort of like a big brother for my LeafStorm (live near Chicago, 2.5" max. blade size laws). Sounds like most other dealers will have them by Monday. Go get 'em! :D

You'll like this one; my favorite EDC. Light, strong and holds an edge forever. The hollow ground slices really well, too. The light green scale (which looks much better than the photo on-line) and smaller size means it doesn't scare the sheep when you pull it out to use, either. Take a sharpening s...
