Hi all,
A bit late to the CQI party, bit does anyone know how to identify a CQI Ikuchi from the batch number/letter? Am trying to figure out if my usual reseller has a CQI batch or not?
Thanks!

Re: Smock Anticipation
An interesting thing happens to the smocks action when you remove the second detent ball.. https://youtu.be/K-FBzILRue0 On a 'detent' note, I did notice that the Compression Lock Detent looks like a ceramic bearing, while the 'secondary' detent seems to be steel. Anyone have any guesses as to why t...

Re: Smock Flipper
Credit where credit's due - big thank you to the Spyderco crew for making this left-carry compatible! There have been a number of recent knives which I've had to pass on recently (Eurodagger, Nirvana) due to being right hand carry only.

Hm...how I wish the Smock and Paysan had options for a left-hand mounted clip! I understand the potential aesthetics/design issue, but one can dream....

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread
s90 and cf please!! its gonna be a winner Second that! Just got my unit yesterday, and am amazed at how solid it feels for a skeletonized compression lock. I think it's going to be the 'next Paramilitary 2' for Spyderco, in terms of popularity and legacy. Was also just thinking that if the blade ta...

Totally in. How're the other manix mods going?[/quote Found a standoff that I think will work. Gonna find out for sure tomorrow. Or at this hour today now I guess. Nice. Can I ask which standoff you went with? Have another untouched M2 that I might tinker with eventually. I also did see a post on a...

Re: C191GP Janisong – first impressions
As an aside about the clip, a Benchmade Triage deep carry clip will fit perfectly onto the Janisong, but you'll need different screws - any of the black screws that come with Taiwan spyderco clips will do. It does add to the thickness of the overall package, but much easer to get on and off thicker ...

Re: Manix Grail Squared (aka Just because I had to..)
1st world knife problems right here. I can relate :D HAHAHAHA! Gold :) Speaking of liner-ish things, does anyone know when Spyderco started skeletonizing the liners of the production Manix 2? Am hoping to get my hands on another unit with non-skeletonized liners. On a slightly unrelated note, I had...

Re: Manix Grail Squared (aka Just because I had to..)
Many thanks - it was a straight blade swap into the handle of my 'modifier' S90V manix. I must admit, the liner alignment on that particular one was pretty off, so the blade is quite off-center. Have since swapped the S110V blade into the one 'old style' 154CM manix that I have. It was one of the in...

Am glad to report that the FRN handles are still servicable if I can find the appropriate handle screws and bolts.
Thanks to MadRookie from BF for the inspiration!

Re: Janisong not available in US?
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but am hoping to clarify something that was mentioned on the 2015. Will the Spyderco manufacturing representative in Taiwan also be selling the knife straight to customers? I know it says Spyderco will not accept direct orders, but I assume that meant only the Gol...

Re: Starmate - Has Anyone Tried Addressing the Weak Detent
I've never had that problem with my Starmate, but then again, it is the older version. Having said that, I imagine you could tweak the mechanism on your knife fairly easily. (WARNING: Please note that taking any Spyderco knife apart will void the manufacturer's warranty). If the detent hole on the ...

Re: So this just happened to my Manix2 :(
I had a similar thing happen to mine a few years ago, but it was just the stem that broke. Back then, importing knives into Aus was tenuous at best, and now the Manix 2 is specifically on the 'not allowed to import' list. Go figure. Anyway, I explained my situation to Charlynn at customer service ba...

Re: Starmate - Has Anyone Tried Addressing the Weak Detent
I honestly can't comment on the starmate per se, as I don't have one, but I certsinly have modded the detent on my Domino...made it much stronger, and therefore a more effective flipper. There's a guy on youtube callwd Modifiedz, who demonstrates how to do it on hinderers, but the principle is the s...

Wharning! Domino flipper in hiding! (aka mods pt2)
I posted a previous thread detailing some of the mods I did to my current Domino user. It included detent tuning, trying some new bearings, and grinding a wave into the blade. Ever the tinkerer, I took things a few steps further this week... 1) Restored the original spyderco bearings into the pivot....

Re: Domino Mods!
I admire the skills you have to do this, although it's a shock seeing the blade like this. You must be doing these mods with round stone bits, chucked in a mill? Or are you freehanding? How do you keep the blade cool during the operation? Handheld with various dremel bits :D Blade gets taken apart ...

Domino Mods!
I've been carrying the Domino since I first got it, about a year or so ago. It's even managed to displaced my modded PM2 s90V from daily carry. While the overall ergos of the PM2 are somewhat more versatile, I just can't get over that danged flipper and bearings! Waaay to addictive! I've a tinkerer ...
