Re: Cliff Stamp has passed away
It is sad to hear that someone so knowledgeable in the realm of knives is now gone. Someone mentioned his website and blog being lost, I wonder if it could be found on the the Way Back Machine. I'm not sure how it works exactly but I think there is supposed to be saved versions of previous states o...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
My 2 from Grommets that I ordered a few days ago arrived this morning. Are you saying you bought all of Grommets stock, then? Because they told me in-person that they had only two 15Vs to sell. Is the idea one for each hand? They had more than 2. I just got a shipping notification for the one I ord...

Re: ** 15v Manix2 Alert Thread **
Sold out faster than I could get my cart to load. I haven’t heard of a lot of these retailers. Have they yet to hit the big stores or are those just selling out before we hear about it on the forum? Can't say what's happening with these specific stores, but I've heard in the past of stores posting ...

Re: ** 15v Manix2 Alert Thread **
FYI on Grommet's: just got off the phone, there was a website glitch and they didn't get any further in stock, but they were pretty good about handling it. As ever, be aware that these smaller sites don't always have accurate inventory. So did you get one or had to refund They gave me the option to...

That went fast. Never shopped with them before; they let me check out but I've been burned on a prior sprint run by Knife Outlet misrepresenting their stock, letting me check out, then the next day cancelling.

Re: Protecting non-stainless steels from Corrosion
For knives I may use on food, I typically use Lubriplate FMO-350AW. For other knives, I typically go with Aegis EDCi. I also recall a very comprehensive test done a few years back of rust inhibitors that found WD-40 specialist corrosion inhibitor did a very good job (note, NOT the regular WD-40), as...

Re: Spyderco Kosher challif knife?
A bit about Rabbi Yurman... https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/community/articles/kosher-slaughter-knifemaker I have watched over 100 Youtube videos about Shochets and Chalifs. You think that we in SF are edge junkies...watch a few and see the absolute focus on getting the RIGHT edge for kosher pre...

Re: We need a new “cut kit”
Improvements might be hemostatic agent (QuickClot/celox, etc, either powder or impregnated gauze), as well as medical adhesive (i.e., basically a form of cyanoacrylate or super glue) if possible.Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:42 pmAll sounds good to me . Re: Will there be a MagnaCut backlash?
Having had a couple MagnaCut knives for a while... I think it's pretty awesome stuff. But there are probably a lot of very unrealistic expectations out there that are not going to be met. It was designed for balance, and I feel that it does that extremely well. In my personal experience, at ~62Rc i...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date
This might be the best solution for them. If their regular traffic is 1/1000th of these occasional drops, it might not make economic sense to pay for that kind of capacity 24/7, year round. Agreed. Heck, increase the price of these direct-from-Spyderco drops by 5 bucks or so to compensate the retai...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date
A faster server would mean they would've just sold out faster and then people would be mad about that and it would be "why can't you just make enough for demand". This is just how it works with limited production and high demand. I see almost word for word the same comments every time a D...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date
:bug-red-white I still think that something should be done to avoid this situation. But at least this time I didn't lose it I mean, even just partnering with a few retailers who actually have competent websites that can handle an increase in traffic. Have the retailer handle the ordering, but have ...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date
The website was even worse than the online seconds sale last year. They sold all of them, so good for them, but it would be nice if there was some modicum of effort to improve the website performance during these drops.

Re: Tool Steel Regular Production Folder Option
I'd say a steel with a balance of toughness and edge retention. For that, it seems two of the better options are 10V and Vanadis 8. In my book Knife Engineering, and in my previous article on recommended steel choices, I put CPM-10V as the recommendation for high alloy non-stainless with high edge r...

Re: MT29P - Mule Team Featuring Z-Max PM Release Info!
I wonder if they plan on re releasing some old ones like Maxamet and LC200N? I hope they do. Even re-releasing a few models would send the signal that people shouldn't expect any exclusivity on the mules, which will hopefully tamper down speculation a bit and get these into more hands for more reas...

Re: Reputable Online Retailer Sugestions and Experiences Good or Bad
I've had great experiences with Knifejoy, New Graham, National Knives, Knives Ship Free, Blade HQ, Knifeworks, Knifecenter, River's Edge Cutlery, Smoky Mountain, DLT. I've had a very bad experience with Knife Outlet (taking orders for sprint run knives they didn't have and ultimately never received,...
