lots of people started having experiences that were not positive like yours and even some that ended up with no knife arriving at all. Heh, that's the exact opposite of my last experience with them. I paid for no knife at all but a box randomly showed up one day. Opened it up and found a red Persia...

Sal did say "from new engineering." I take that as a suggestion that this is likely to be a Dodo2 rather than a sprint of the original. Don't take that as gospel though, it's just what I infer from it.

Holy text wall of death  :D has anybody thought of the fact that grinding H-1 work hardens it, and that the hardening in a FFG blade may cause the blade to become more brittle than is safe or allowable for Spyderco company standards? I think I recall hearing someone from Spyderco mentioning th...

Am I being picky and demanding here? Definitely. I ask a lot and expect a lot, but since we are talking about a knife that doesn't exist yet I don't think it would make sense to set your sights short. Fair? Fair enough. I hope you'll also agree it's fair when we relay information from previous disc...

Ok, starting to get a clearer idea of what you mean. I'll just respond to a few points. and towards the end of its run could be gotten for a much more reasonable 120$ or so. If the price had started around there, and more shops kept it in that price range, I suspect the rock salt would have been a b...

This morning my Aqua cut (spread) some peanut butter and then cut (stirred) my coffee. It proved up to both challenges. :) Then I did a little Tasman-then-and-now cutting comparison on the box containing my new Nalgene. Hm, then the Khukuri opened some mail and the Cat trimmed a rough thumbnail. Thi...

You complain about the price of the Rock Salt, but a large part of that cost is the steel. The knife you compare it to unfavorably is tool steel, which rusts rather easily and, while the coating may help keep the sides of the blade from rusting, it does not protect the edge. You complain about the ...

Seconded! Some of my favorite knives are seconds from last year's sale. They were all good deals, but I had to pay as much as three times their original cost on ebay.

Don't know if it shows well there, but it seems to engage fairly deeply, as they go. I'd say there's about 2mm left between the cage and scales.

I quite like the FRN sheath on my Aqua... aside from that issue. The centimeter of plain edge at the tip of my SE is just about uselessly dull almost every time I draw it.
