So cheerful! This is one of the nicest bug on a Spyderco shots I've seen; love it.

lots of people started having experiences that were not positive like yours and even some that ended up with no knife arriving at all.

Sal did say "from new engineering." I take that as a suggestion that this is likely to be a Dodo2 rather than a sprint of the original. Don't take that as gospel though, it's just what I infer from it.

has anybody thought of the fact that grinding H-1 work hardens it, and that the hardening in a FFG blade may cause the blade to become more brittle than is safe or allowable for Spyderco company standards?

This morning my Aqua cut (spread) some peanut butter and then cut (stirred) my coffee. It proved up to both challenges. :)

You complain about the price of the Rock Salt, but a large part of that cost is the steel. The knife you compare it to unfavorably is tool steel, which rusts rather easily and, while the coating may help keep the sides of the blade from rusting, it does not protect the edge.

Seconded! Some of my favorite knives are seconds from last year's sale. They were all good deals, but I had to pay as much as three times their original cost on ebay.

Don't know if it shows well there, but it seems to engage fairly deeply, as they go. I'd say there's about 2mm left between the cage and scales.

I quite like the FRN sheath on my Aqua... aside from that issue. The centimeter of plain edge at the tip of my SE is just about uselessly dull almost every time I draw it.

Gone now, but I think the closest to a locking Urban would be the Cat. Very similar shape and a just ever so slightly shorter blade.
