"Ayoob" Folder

I read Vancook's article in TK Sept. issue. I'd handled one a few months back at one of our Ricmond Gun and Knife shows. I was skeptical. Last weekend I went out to another show with a thought maybe to give it another try. One of the venders had two for sale, one plain edge and other serrated totall...

endura trainng

Hey Guys, Just got the drone of the endura after carrying SS version for a year. Drills for quick draw are really revealing on the time factor to get to response position. Any insight on the this training aspect?

Allen, I've been carrying the S.S. version of the "Native" for around 6 mos. and have found it to be a very comfortable daily carry knife and very functional with daily chores. No MBC chores as yet luckily. I think it is short for an impact tool. Yesterday I bought the S.S. version of the ...

Stainless steel handles

Recently I bought the spyderco "native" in total stainless and have really enjoyed carrying it daily. A friend on seeing the knife for the first time gave concern on the handle of steel being "slippery". I feel the extra metal feel with the thinner profile has its own uniqueness ...

Earthworm, I'm a P.T. working in an urban indigent care state hospital. Short blades get less comments. Around here 3.75 in. is the limit for one hand folders. A few of the patients share their knife stories or their carry. I've even used practice patterns for ROM exercises for UE pt's. Nicholls

reaction of people when they see you carry a blade

As a health care professional I sometimes use a knife to open packages, boxes, wrapped stuff. Usually it's with in the legal limit of length but I get reactions that imply I'm dangerous. I wonder if any body else hears this and what's a good way to respond to this?

If I use this knife in a self defense situation, are there any specifics to use in a legal deal regarding it's shape and design intent?

Sirius, Thanks for your feed back. The "window" is a concept first taught to me from sensei Roy Suenaka when he shared concepts from his training in Hakutsuru Shorin-ryu karate during an Aikido workshop years ago. I ran into the concept again years later while studing the knife with W.Hock...

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. This issue of studing an "ART vs. "Self Defense" regarding blades in particular is intriguing to me because of the incredible focus we now find ourselfs in with regards the WAR we're in and our skills as civilians. { I'm ex hospital navy...
