Re: Who Wants a High Carbon Native?

I have no interest in Low-Alloy steels. I think they are far inferior to high alloy non-stainless in all respects except for forging.
To be honest, I'd much rather Spyderco do something in AEB-L or Nitro-V if you want something that will take a fine edge with good toughness.

Looks like ZDP is gone. I'll take K390 any day over it.

Re: Wharncliffe's

Huge wharnie fan, but not into the asymmetrical grinds, nor the hollow on the Yojimbo 2. I tried buying the original Yojimbo 1 for a while, but eventually gave up finding one. When the Yojimbo 2 was announced I was disappointed in the choice of a hollow grind. I know they have better performance in ...

Re: High Hollow Grind

Not typically a fan of hollows. I do like the Smock. Lots of custom makers use a 20" wheel and those feel like a good balance of hollow and flat.

Re: Rock Jumper comparison thread + general info

I insert the lockbar and lockbar pivot in last when reassembling. Only way to keep from mangling that little plastic pin. Nice review. Thanks for the effort and pics!

I've removed my share of handles on various knives. I will usually start off drilling out the pins some in case they are corby rivets, then drive them the rest of the way through. After the pins are removed, I will then try to put one side of the handles in a vise, if you can get enough purchase on ...

You could get a sata/ide to usb adapter, pull the drive, hook it to the adapter and pull what you want off.

Here is the adapter from Amazon. If you know the drive is sata, you can get just a sata to usb for cheaper.

G10 is basically fiberglass, PPE is always required. The dust can give some a rash on the skin, but is very bad to breath. The peel ply is just what everyone is speculating. It has a plastic backer. You peel it off when the knife is about complete and the texture is left. If you want to add texture ...

thank you. I think I'm going to drill out 2 small holes and make them 1/4" so i can fit my mosaic pins that i've been eyeballing. I use 1/4" Pins in the 3/8" holes all the time. I wouldn't worry about drilling them out. If you do decide to drill the smaller holes out, go grab several...

I've had an Edge Pro, I have a bunch of diamond DMT Stones, had a Lansky system, have a Sharpmaker, and have paper wheels. I have no opinion on the wicked edge as I've never used it. The best sharpener for the money is the Sharpmaker, not so good for reprofiling. The edge pro worked well, but it was...

In need of a Stainless Mule

I hate soliciting but I'm running short on time. I have a good buddy who likes to gift knives to his friends that are being deployed. He typically has me make a custom Mule with a Kydex sheath. I only charge him for the materials and donate my time. I've run out my stock of Mules and there is only a...

If your cutting up apples or oranges at lunch then a FFG is what you want. Otherwise a Saber grind is much more robust.
