I’d still love a Breeden Captain sprint. Or a Rhino Lil Temp of either generation.
Obscure and weird are my main collecting criteria.

Re: Does your Spyderco knife passion depend on acquiring more?
I have enough to justify a collection, possibly an addiction. If I was a niche cutlery influencer maybe I’d feel the pressure. I buy for me alone, it goes in waves. I love the company and went MIA for a few years. Came back and felt welcomed :) . I’m still a knife nerd, I think it’s too late for me ...

Re: Please remove MAP pricing forever!
I think it’s a race to the bottom without MAP. Big box stores that maintain expensive websites and always take the high road will struggle to keep up. With inflation and increased business costs it just isn’t cheap to run a place like Knife Center. I’d rather buy fewer knives and ensure the dealer n...

Re: Backspacers: What are your thoughts? yea or nay: explain
In general I’m done buying slab-knives. A creative or even contoured backspacer might sway me in that for direction though. Usually they offer very little structural gain. Possibly slowing dust/lint accumulation. You don’t “need” a backspacer but in a warm climate Jeep’s drive around without doors a...

Re: Will there be a mini police?
In some ways the Rookie is much better than a Delica. Thinner, more blade per handle length. I like the old school splinter picker grind as well.

Re: Matriarch 2 trainer
I haven’t done meat testing with a reverse s or hawkbill but I know they punch through cardboard with little effort.
Fun to see a trainer in the works. Not my thing but Spyderco always delivers when a need is present.

Great photo David.
It seems a knife that would be great for glove work. I don’t have many large Spyderco’s but this model really has a terrific handle with plenty of room.

I adore the blade shape but the DLC and orange handles are a bit too far for me personally.
Fun stuff though!

Re: What's the big deal with the nub?
I think the disconnect is some not understanding these are performance-first production tools. I have a number of custom and semi-custom knives that can’t perform anywhere near the level of a Delica. I keep coming back for that and the Burton’esque world of knives that Sal has built for us (I like w...

How does the new Ayoob rank on the teeth scale, David? Mine looks pretty perfect for performance out of the box.

Re: Gunting Model?
I like most the weird collabs but the personally the Gunting was a bit much. That specific version of the compression lock on the left side left some nasty pinches. The kinetic opening was strange and gimmicky. In general striking someone with the back of the blade isn’t even as effective as the pom...

Re: Vehicle knife
Check your local laws pertaining to knives (or any other weapon) in cars and/or in reach of the driver. Some don't make sense, but they are still the law. For me, I just keep a combo-edge Delica that was scale-swapped with a waved version. 100% this. Laws are strange. I’d almost rather have a Magli...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
Blerv my SE, C-60 Ayoob Sprint Run does not have that odd type weird looking anomaly on the serration pattern. Mine looks as uniform as any other great full SE Spyderco model that I've ever owned over the years. However this anomaly on the serration pattern does have me extremely curious as to what...

I’d love a Sage with copper/bronze/brass embellishments. I’ve been banging that drum a long time though just in general, lol.
Maybe this look with a Michael Walker Button Lock? I’d pawn my car for that…

Re: How much of your collection do you regularly use?
I tend to stick with one for a while and then rotate. Some rarely if ever get used and all my tasks are light.
I’d say about half my knives are factory sharp or close to it (the ones I’m more afraid to sharpen lol). The rest varying degrees based on my hacky stone skills.

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
My SE has that same serration everyone has pointed out. I’m inclined to think it’s as-designed and the maker is executing repeated and desired results (even if maybe not our own ideal style). It’s smooth as **** and freaky sharp. Overall I’m thrilled. Thanks Sal & Co! I had to let the last Massa...

Re: Your value line knives
I don’t really like slab g10 knives (despite having a ton of them). I adore my FRN Spydies. Delica and Stretch come to mind and while they dont really run “cheap” compared to some higher end knives they are a bargain and perform so much better.

Re: Any carbon steel Spyderco knives?
Yea lots of modern high-carbon semi stainless in the lineup. The last full carbon that I can remember were the Super Blue sprints.
I don’t have a lot experience with the new offerings but M4 sharpens very easily for how it performs.
