The Moran Drop Point is one of my absolute favourite fixed blades. So light, practical and perfectly balanced! For any normal cutting chore I prefer it over several of my more expensive fixed blades.

What I would like to see (seems out of line compared to many others): - more slipjoint designs, including a heavy duty slipjoint knife, and a strictly two-hand opening slipjoint knife (for the growing list of countries where carrying one-hand opening knives becomes problematic). - an innovative kind...

Kiwi (stag handled slipjoint variant) review

Hi all, FYI I just uploaded a concise video clip discussing the Kiwi slipjoint with stag handles. I also compare it with the original backpacking Kiwi: 29. Spyderco Kiwi Stag: for gentlemen on a budget In addition, I recently posted my opinions of the many protypes I was able to examine at the Amste...

Well I think I have narrowed it to 3 blades. A Spyderhawk SE if I can get a neck sheath from a ebay dealer. I would use it at work if I can get the sheath. The other 2 are the Sage or a Military. Sage is smaller than your other ones, hence an interesting addendum. Also check the Urban Wharncliffe f...

I was lucky enough to be at the Amsterdam meeting, and I made a commented slideshow with my impressions about every prototype. If you are interested, you can see it here on YouTube.
For the executive summary, my favourites were the Des Horn, the Techno, Fluted Ti Native and South Fork.

Des Horn? The one with the 'Sturm und Drang'-style design: 3 grooves both in the blade and the handle? Awesome design, THAT was a sweet little gentleman-knife! Yes, that one ! Lovely. Persian XL: wait for the pics. It's HUGE. I must say, I didn't like it that much. If not for the hole it could have...

It was a very interesting, well organised event with ample opportunitiy for discussion. My faves: - Gayle Bradley gentlemen folder - 2 variant Centofante tribute folders - Chaparral (practical & compact), - "fluted Ti" Military - the last knife was a splendid, well balanced fixed blade...

Thanks all for the info, I think that safest may be to bring my old 2-hand opening Rücksack. An anecdote: before 9/11 I accidentally had that one in my onboard luggage. They confiscated it. By then it was 10 years old and been with me on many backpacking trips, hence I was attached to it. Well, just...

Hi all, I found this nearly one year old thread which is relevant to me, as I might be going on holiday in Australia. In essence, what is the current status regarding carrying knives in New South Wales and Victoria? I currently thought of bringing one of the larger Victorinox swiss knives, and keepi...

Together with the Sebenza and XM-18, it is one of the great iconic modern knives (even if cheaper than the other 2).
Suffice to say; I have a Sebenza which is of course well made, yet I do prefer my Military.

For normal use, the fixed Moran drop point is very very nice and practical. And so light and well balanced. Did I mention already how light it is? I have many fixed blades, and unless I would want to break down furniture with it, the Moran is perfectly sufficient. Add to this some kind of affordable...

I have both. The Benchmade has a certain unique style with its reverse tanto blade. It should satisfy you. Lock is good. My only annoyance is the chalky feel of the handle. Chokwe is very different - actually I've never seen someone hesitating between the two. A very well made framelock and a superb...

A video about my collection

Hi all,

I made this clip in response to a call by Cutlerylover (a well known knife reviewer on YouTube) to show your knife collection. My video includes a number of my beloved Spydercos (not all), hence I thought you it might entertain you:

Displaying my knife collection

cheers!

I assume that the "New!" next to the Chokwe on p37 is a typo, or has anything changed in my favourite ethnic Spydie?

I waited for a long time, I knew I would buy only one Kopa (so many other knives that tempt me), so it had to be one that I liked a lot. Of course, they are all attractive, and yet I am happy with my Giraffe Bone variant.
