Anyone interested in this subject should read Engines of Creation by K. Eric Drexler.

You can read both the old version and new version online.

This is a knife forum, but do any of you doubt for a moment that after guns are restricted, registered, and finally confiscated, they won't come after your pocket knives? Especially the dangerous looking ones that can be opened with a flick of the thumb and locked open? If so, what are the reasons f...

Just adding to the statistic here for you. I was around 10 or 11, .22lr rifles at a local outdoor range in a rural area. I got my first pellet air pistol at around the same time as well for Christmas. Dad was proud, mom was livid but learned to relax after she saw that I was responsible with it :D T...

I find that I wish for a little more open detent when using it since it is missing the choil area of the UKPK.

The problem with most oils to me is that it collects dust and dirt, especially in something that spends a good deal of time in your pocket, and over time those particles will act like an abrasive in your knife and make it more gritty and wear out faster. My guess is your graininess is imperfections ...

Yes, your knife becomes harder to open after you first apply it, not user error.

Its a dry lubricant, let it dry and it will work :)

Look at the Manix 2, the price is right and its really tough. Aside from that if you want to pay more, from what people say you need to look at the Gayle Bradley and I'll go out on a limb and personally endorse the PPT (extremely solid feeling folder and I'll be extremely surprised if you get a dud ...

Man that sucks, sorry to hear about it. Stick with your current treatment of antibiotics, they do work well if you've managed to not have a lot of them in the past. I'm not a doctor, so please ask a real doctor if there are any reasons not to do the following: Eat a ton of (preferably raw, cut it up...

I was lucky enough to get to handle this at Blade 2012 and got a short chat with Sal about it as well. It is a really nice little knife, I for one will get it for myself along with a handful for friends and family in Denmark. As I told Sal, the barrier of entry into the Danish market is first price ...

I was just about to post this.

Lifehacker is a very popular blog, and I hope this will not bring negative attention to Spyderco from all the freedom hating people out there who will most likely read this as well as people who just enjoy modifying their stuff to make it better.

I noticed the written news story makes no mention of you fending off the animal or that a knife was used.

I think it'd look best in bright, "happy" colors. Like a baby blue, salmon, yellow, or lime... and something like that. You know, like colors on a baby's crib? Definitely would be a nod to Danish politics as well, bunch of babies ;) But I agree, the blue, green or purple of the FFG Delica...

I actually use the radiuses on the 701mf to sharpen the bevel on the ground side. They seem to fit perfectly. Same for the slip stone.

Rubbing with shiny side out crumpled up aluminum foil with a little water.

One of the gentlest ways I know to remove rust from steel, thought it might buff it a bit.

I don't know about the steel difference, but If its the FRN UKPK I believe the BD1 version had its backspring tweaked to be a little stiffer to match the G10 version.

I own the GIN1 version and wish its backspring was stiffer.
