I think that that is really weird. Almost like bringing your own food into the restaurant. Or using your edc to cut your food when you're a guest at somebody's house.

I'd think about buying something from the Lenovo outlet here: http://outlet.lenovo.com/laptops/thinkpad.html I was going to suggest a Mac too, but since they are familiar with windows I'd go with a PC since they are cheaper. I'm partial to Lenovo but there are many good choices in the $500-$700 rang...

Flying with a blade? Here in the States, you take a blade to an airport and it gets confinscated at the very least. You should mail the knife to your destination. As far as traveling to other countries, I have no idea. Not true, I fly with knives checked in my luggage all the time. You can't have i...

I don't think chiding and mocking the OP for three pages are doing a lot for the people of Japan or making for very intelligent discussion about the situation, but hey what do I know?

Yes, assuming that the pivot is the weakest part of the whole pivot system. In a cutting motion, there will be forces primarily on the pivot pin and the stop pin (or lock back or compression lock or whatever). If the pivot pin is weaker than the stop pin or the strength of the blade itself, then yes...

I think that this is one for Mythbusters as well, somebody should submit it.

All of the points made seem valid to me, but how much will you actually save? I don't think it will be more than 10 or 20 cents on a fill up.
