Re: Harpy

I challenge all of you to try a Harpy as a companion blade to your main EDC folder. The G-10 Harpy is truly a near perfect companion SE folder. Next on my list as I try to resurrect my collection. The G-10 Harpy is the Grail. Don't know if I'll ever be able to find one again. (Still don't understan...

Just think of a PE hawkbill as one large single serration scallop. :thinking
"Teeth" is plural, as in, more than one. :winking-tongue

Re: Is there a BYRD in your pocket??

Well, there is now. A Meadowlark Hawkbill SE. My first Byrd knife. :party-face I've owned many Spyderco knives in the past and still have a small batch (around 15-18?), but I never got around to pulling the trigger on a Byrd (another deal on a Spyderco always seemed to pop up each time I thought abo...

Re: BYRD as transition towards Spydie knives (or NOT)

It's funny, no matter how much you pay for a knife, there is always a pricier one out there. I just saw one for sale (used) on another forum with a starting asking price of $3.2K. For a USED knife. And it will probably never leave the safe. And I'm sure there ARE pricier ones out there. Personally, ...

But I also would love to see the rebirth of the Superhawk with a G-10 handle as well. At least give one or two of them a Sprint Run with those handles.
WITH teeth, please! ALL hawkbill knives should have an SE option! :winking-tongue

Getting back into actively adding Spydercos by trying out the Byrd line (for starters). Byrd Meadowlark Hawkbill SE.

Re: G-10 Hawkbill Anyone?

I STILL think a G-10 Spyderhawk/G-10 Harpy set is a good idea (it will never see fruition, but it's a good idea). I'm up for whatever we can get. When hawkbills first started coming out, I think it was an idea before its time. Now there are a lot more people who know how useful hawkbills actually ar...

Re: Cricket Lightweight

I would love to see a new Cricket!

I think you should leave the blade shape as is. To me, that's part of what makes it a Cricket. As for the handle, I agree that it needs something "grippier" than SS, maybe G-10 or FRN or...?

Re: Harpy

I know this is resurrecting an old thread, but I remember reading somewhere that the actual knife used in the movie was a rubber one - based on an actual Harpy (they thought using the real thing was too dangerous/accident prone). Don't recall if the real one they based it on was SE or PE.

Too easy. Opening the latest Amazon/Walmart (I forget which) box.

I keep a Ladybug Hawkbill in my keychain and it can handle 90-95 percent of day-to-day cutting chores. And if it can't, it just calls out one of its big brothers. :rofl

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

It's funny. Most of the first twenty-five years of my life, I thought there were only PE blades. Oh sure, I had seen some SE bladed knives, but I subconsciously categorized them as saws or 'survival' knives when I saw one. Then, one day I was walking along and I kicked up something in the grass. Whe...

I have to applaud Sal and all the crew for coming through with another knife requested from/by forum members. I won't be getting this one, as the only version of this model that I liked was the fully serrated one. I don't know why, but this model just never appealed to me very much. I can't understa...

I think the Superhawk would have sold better if there had been an SE version available.

But the two that I would really like to see in SE are the two Breedan models, the Captain and the Rescue (I still don't understand calling it a Rescue without the option for an SE version!).

I haven't spoken up yet, cause I hadn't really seen a FB Hawkbill that I liked yet (Although that Boomerang is starting to grow on me!). Then I saw this. Personally, I like this design. The bonus 'wire/rope/cable cutter' on the back of the blade seems like it would be a real plus! (Plus, there's eve...
