Re: leafjumper v delica

Agree. They feel different in use and when carrying them. Therefore, we all need BOTH a jumper and a delica! :bug-red-white Rockjumper, Delica Wharncliffe, Endela Wharncliffe, Leafjumper, standard blade Delica and Endela... all in plain and serrated. That way you're covered for every scenario. (If ...

Re: Chinese Budget Folders In M4: What Does The Future Hold?

I'd be down for an Astute in any steel that's an upgrade from 8Cr13.

A Polestar or Alcyone in a premium steel would be nice too.

Re: As we have the Stretch XL, could we revert to the Stretch 1 pattern for non-XL?

I'm firmly in the "Stretch 1 is the GOAT" camp (But only have 3; I was a slacker when they were available), and the 2 just doesn't do it for me - especially not the straight spine versions. The Kapara comes close to scratching the itch, though. Or a drop point UKPK.

Re: FRN v. FRCP

One thing I still wonder a bit: Is the Golden "FRN-recipy" a bit different to the Seki "FRN recipy"? To me Golden FRN feels a bit "frcp-isher" than the "softer" Seki FRN, if that makes any sense. My N5LW handle feel hard and plasticy like the M2LW - I don't c...

Mail call today, my new siren s90 came in. Comparing side by side with the black and blue liner one, everything about this new one is an upgrade.
Not quite everything. I like the splash of color the liner gives the original.

I have the Dragonfly and Delica in this series, and the Endela is a nice size, so of course I'm going to try to get one... my poor wallet is begging for mercy.

The bug recently fell out of my C3 - it was the second Spyderco I ever bought, many years ago. I should get a new one.

(A sprint in Super Blue with the same gray/blue zome as the recent Dragonfly would be killer. Or K390. I guess ZDP-189 is off the table...)

Serrated. Plain edge H1 is pretty meh, but it shines with teeth.

Re: Are there any models you liked the previous better than the current?

Stretch 1 has a better handle and blade shape than the Stretch 2. Especially the new straight-spine version. It's not a Stretch without curves! The original C44 Dyad with a linerless Micarta handle is better than the G10/steel liner sprint that was released a couple of years ago. It was only a coupl...

Re: Seconds sale 2022

Got the ones I ordered (A PITS and a Polestar) today. They came loose in the box with just a small wad of air-filled plastic for padding, so I'm not sure if the minor marks on the handles I found are why they were seconds or sustained during shipping, but I can't find anything I'd consider a flaw. T...

Re: Spyderco Siren CF/S90v Sprint…In The Wild!

The CF is the standard Spyderco peel ply CF, if you're familiar with that. If not, it's more a fine texture that wears smoother quite fast; here are a couple close ups to try to compare: Actually, no. I don't have any peel-ply CF knives; just smooth and the woven texture on the Taiwanese CF/G-10 la...

I'd go for a series of the Scandinavian designs in AEB-L - Nilakka, Lil' Nilakka, WolfSpyder if Ray Mears is willing, Puuko fixed blade.

Re: FRN Mini Dyad reboot interest?

I'd love a K390 version of the big C44 Dyad (I once hoped for a ZDP-189 plain blade, H1 serrated blade version; best of both worlds design. But with both of those steels going away...), using the original linerless micarta design. The liner + G-10 sprint that came out a few years ago was too bulky a...

Re: Cutleryshoppe Exclusive Wharncliffe PM2 Orange and DLC

Now I kind of regret getting the satin version; I can't justify both but I do like the black/orange colorway. I'd like to see them do the Wharnie Delica and Wharnie Endela in this combo with XHP. I'm not a huge PM2 guy, but I'll probably get this. This, but in their orange & black Zome/HAP40 ser...

I'd be interested in a Spyderco Barong fixie, but with an 8-inch MagnaCut blade.
Came here to say the Barong, but you beat me to it. 8 inches is too big for my tastes though.

And a fixed blade edition of the Chokwe/Watu design. They're based on a traditional African fixed blade design already...

Re: Did CruWear Make S35vn Obsolete?

Spyderco still uses S30V as the baseline steel for most US and Taiwanese made models even though S35V and then S45V were supposed to replace it. I don't think they care about "obsolete" or not when it comes to a steel as long as it's "good enough".

I think maybe technically JIS, but my Wiha PH1 bit worked just fine for changing the clip orientation.. If it's JIS, there should be a little indentation/dot on the head. this is why I bought a set of wiha torx screwdrivers with the big handles. Haven't stripped a screw since. I have a set of Wiha ...
