ATS-55 does not work well in the water since it seems to rust very easily. I use a snap-it (AUS-8 steel) as a backup to my backup when diving and it hasn't rusted yet.

I'm a Federal employee so I have to keep them small to go in my office:

Dragonfly PE in front pocket
Green Jester, leatherman micra, photon light on keychain
Leatheman juice s2 and Dyad Jr in my bag

But in my car:
Endura SE
Blue Rescue 93mm
Leatherman Pulse

ATS-55 rusts way too easily for me. I prefer VG-10 or Aus-8.

I agree with ROM831. Blue loctite works the best. I use it on my rescue, endura, and delica and it really holds the clip on tight.

Some radiation info for those interested (from my nuclear engineering background): The glowrings contain tritium. It is a pure beta emitter. Beta paticles cannot even penetrate a layer of dead skin. The danger from Tritium comes from ingestion (swallowing) or absorption of Tritium through the skin. ...

Just got mine in a trade Saturday and used it to cut a belt in a flipped over car this afternoon. Overall a useful knife and cool color. Haven't gotten to play around with the "control tip" yet but it seems like a useful feature. The larger opening hole is a nice touch too. I had it in my ...

I use my Aus-8 Snap-it as a backup dive knife in the ocean. I just rinse it off after every trip. Never had any rust on it. 440A and 440C dive knives also work well. I carried my ATS-55 Rescue jr. once on some water rescue training in brackish (salt/fresh water mix) water and it rusted up by the end...

spydie deals

Just got an email from www.knifeworks.com and they have PE VG-10 Viele's for 59.99 and PE SS Rookie for 39.99 in their clearance section. I would buy one but I just bought a Viele and have a new PS Military on the way.

combo edge military

Is the plain edge part of the blade chisel ground? I know on the other combo edge Spyderco's I have the serrated and the plain edge portion are both chisel ground. I am thinking about getting one and I was curious. Thanks.
