I don't know if it just me or if it is my tools, but I tried loosening the blade stop screw and the driver just wanted to spin in the screw head. I didn't mess with it much because I didn't want to strip it. I was using a T6. I seem to have hit or miss luck with Spyderco's T6 screws.

My military and manix 2 do not have this problem. Both of them are solid as a rock.

Question about Para Military

I have noticed that my para military has some flex at the pivot. It doesn't have any blade play side to side, but if I hold the tip when it is open and locked and apply some pressure like I am trying to close it, it has some flex. It seems like the same type of movement you get with a lockback. Is ...

Breakfree CLP is a gun/knife cleaner. The CLP stands for Cleans, Lubricates and Preservative. I used it on my knives until I decided to try the Tuf-Cloth. CLP is not a dry lube/oil and seemed to attract a lot of pocket lint.

The exact same thing happened to my USN Endura when I wiped it down with a Tuf-Cloth. I ended up wiping it down with CLP and that seemed to get it back to normal.

Good call on the aluminum scales.

Like I said before, I think the Meadowlark, Raven and Finch were all a great value. I was just disappointed with the Starling. If it had been the only Byrd knife that I bought, it probably would have been my last.

First Experience with Byrd Knives

I got my first Byrd knives today. I got 4 of them from an online retailer for a good deal. I got a black SS Meadowlark PE, a bk blade FRN Raven PE, a SS Finch and a bk blade FRN starling. My initial impressions of the Meadowlark, Raven and Finch are that they are good knives for the money, but I can ...

I swapped the FG scales from a FG D4 with the black scales from a black balde D4. I didn't just swap the blade because I wanted all the black hardware. That required taking both all the way apart and swapping the scales.

angus,

Good luck trying to get that last screw out. I still have the mangled remains of a clip screw stuck in my Persistence. Charlynn did send me some new screws, so I was able to attach the clip the way I want it.

Toad,

It is hard to pick a favorite. I really like the Para Military and the Manix 2 but they aren't my usual EDC choices. EDC often goes to either a Delica or the Cricket. I work in an office setting so I usually EDC the Cricket because I feel it is more acceptable. On the weekends, or when I am ...

BeefTips Collection So Far

Hey guys,

I have made a few posts on the forum so far, but haven't really made a formal introduction. I have been collecting knives since I was young. I am 29 now and still like knives, but the ones I get now are a lot more expensive (nicer quality) than when I was kid. I have only been really ...

I'm not sure because I stripped one of the screws trying to remove the clip. It does look like it should show less. I think it would be comfortable to carry tip-up, hopefully I can get it set up like that eventually.

I got my Persistence in the mail yesterday. I really like it. I will try to get some Tenacious comparison shots up tonight.

I did have a problem with it though. I wanted to move the clip but all of my T6 torx are too lose and the T7 is too big. I called the SFO and they confirmed that they should ...

I know that I like the looks of the paracord. I am not an expert yet on how useful it actually is on the knife. I definitely see that having a paracord lanyard on a keychain or knife could come in handy if you find yourself in a position where you need rope. The lanyard I made has about 7 feet of ...

First attempt with para cord

Hey guys,

I finally got some 550 para cord to play with and decided to post a pic of my first try. Here it is with my new Manix 2. :)
