Re: Any Micarta Fans Here?
It's my favorite handle material. PM2 would be awesome, but I'd never be able to find one. They'd be gone so fast.

Re: Spyderco/Farid K2 full review
Thanks for the review. I will choose between the K2, Tatanka, and the Tuff here in the few weeks. It will serve as my large wilderness survival school folder.

Re: Spyderco paramilitary 2
negative? Abosolutely, they are always sold out. That is for a good reason. You might have to pull the trigger on a military during your search. The knife is elusive. I saw one a few years back and failed to pull the trigger. I have since purchased many other spydercos in my hunt, but no PM2 ...

Re: Best EDC Spyderco?
Depends on your hands and the knife's foot print in your pocket. Big hands=endura or police, smaller hands=delica. When I carry a knife or a gun, I find the thickness makes more of a difference. The Ulize is a big knife but it's so thin, I don't know it's there. I carry in the pocket and IWB. There ...

Re: Confession of a knife addict
I was amazed. I have the Hest 2.0 by Lionsteel. No problems. I sliced a tomato from our garden. I immediately wiped it off on the soft side of the blue sponge and the DLC came off. I tested the nuclear tomato on my Protech PR4 and Microtech DOC without incident. I'm thinking it must have been a ...

Re: Best Law Enforcement knife?
Endura and Delica are probably the OPs answer. I have cut a seat belt or two, clothing (first responder), flex cuff, em monitors. Let us know how you like the matriach. The hawkbill seems to have certain advantages with cutting any of the above mentioned. Let us know if you get it. Be safe.

Re: Best Law Enforcement knife?
I wish we always had 21 feet. In the real word of close quarters-well it'd be nice. Most officers can't draw in 1 sec, even with practice. I used the knife as a distraction to create the time. He was waiitng for the draw. As LEOs, our disadvantage is we are usually reacting defensively. Granted SWAT ...

Re: Confession of a knife addict
Honestly, I am not a hard use advocate. If I'm in a survival situation with a folder, that means I've lost my gear.
I teach my Boy Scouts how to build a shelter, fire, traps, snares-the beginnings of bush craft. Probably the hardiest activity is fire wood prep. I teach them to protect their knives ...

Re: Best Law Enforcement knife?
I agree you fixed blade is the way to go. Gross motor skill, less muscle memory, faster. My department went through a PC period were folders were permitted and fixed blades were not in policy. Stupid. Years later, the department decided a tactical mindset was more condusive to Officer safety. Fixed ...

Re: Confession of a knife addict
I work in an Office downtown. I have another knife comrade at work. He was depressed and bought a Mchenry Williams BM. I took the ulize in to work to show him. Due to the envoronment, we keep it pretty low key. I showed him and shoved it in my trousers back pocket. It is so thin, I forgot it was ...

Confession of a knife addict
I leave this to your judgement and wisdom. How screwed am I?
I had to return a SR1 Lionsteel. I used it to cut a tomato and the DLC coating came off when I wiped the blade of with a spunge. I really liked it.
I usually gift knives to family and my buddies serving over seas. So I was given a store ...

Re: Best Law Enforcement knife?
I'll disagree. I retired in 2008. I was a range master/defensive knife tactics instructor/emt. My last asignment was SWAT (6.5 years). I used my knife on duty more than my gun. Yes, I did use my gun. Unfortunately, I have had to use my knife defensively. However, I mostly needed a knife a first ...
