Lil' Native Magnacut

Eric has said all US made Spydercos will eventually get magnacut. I am most excited about the Magnacut Lil' Native. Since the lightweight Lil' native has already been revealed in the latest catalog, I am guessing that will be the one that gets the Magnacut treatment. I can't wait. Anyone else excite...

Re: Reveal 14 is on FIRE

I already have enough FRN and compression lock knives, so I'll keep waiting for a Magnacut model I like.. I hope this deluge of FRN and comp lock will clear the way for other lock types and handle materials (CF/titanium) combined with MC in the future. This sums up my feeings as well. While FRN is ...

Re: custom shop...

Should be easy enough to come up with a Custom shop logo to laser etch on the blade to differentiate custom shop items from exclusives and previous sprints. I'd be happy with almost any Golden model, but my first choice would be the lil-native. Already has three lock types and having a non-locking o...

Re: so... next reveal?

I'd love to see and buy either an Enuff 2 or Subway Bowie in Magnacut. I'd likely buy both if Spyderco makes them.

Re: Biggest gap in the Spyderco lineup?

A related gap is the high-end Salt. There is no Ti-MagnaCut Military with LC200N liners, for instance. No Chaparral Salt. I agree with this 100 percent! We do have the Spydiechef, but that is more of a specialty blade shape, while I love the more leaf shaped blades. More often than not, it is the t...

Re: New Spyderco Series Idea

I think Grizz meant more of one batch per year release, not “1200 and done” super limited releases like is the case with current sprints. So Model X would be available in 15v for all of 2024, then in s125v in 2025, then bog iron for 2026, etc., etc. I would expect re-runs would also be allowed. Gri...

New Spyderco Series Idea

I know that the idea of a Spyderco custom shop gets brought up regularly, and this isn't another of those posts. Because I'm older, and have been buying and using knives for more than forty years, I have narrowed down my tastes, especially handle materials. Titanium, natural materials, and G10 are m...

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

Why I worry about heat treat: I had two similar models of fixed blade knife from two separate manufacturers in the same steel, M390. The first one I acquired is why M390 is one of my favorite steels; Bradford Guardian 3. It performed well, sharpened relatively easily, held an edge great and never sh...

Re: What is the first Spyderco you'd replace?

That is an interesting question. My favorite and most used knife is the Stealth Chapparal, and while I would want that one replaced, I don't know that I would immediately go to and buy one on the secondary market, and would probably buy another model of chapparal, sun and moon probably... But there ...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

This discussion about the lock material not playing nice with MagnaCut makes me wonder what other companies are doing right or wrong in regards to this. I keep seeing other brands crank out MagnaCut knives and I wonder what they're doing with the heat treat and the lock steel relationship. It does ...

Re: models you'd like to see in the salt series

A few people have mentioned the Chaparral and that would be my choice, but I would add, in titanium. I've tried several different knives since getting my Chap, but the titanium stealth chaparral keeps finding its way back to my pocket. I get the whole idea that a salt knife is mainly used for outdoo...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

I remember when Detonics came out with the first all stainless semi auto. I watched closely as "galling" was discovered in similar steels rubbing against each other. That is actually the example I was remembering, although I had forgotten the model. I was quite into amateur gunsmithing an...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

Thanks for the insider look Sal! It’s crazy hearing how much bringing a high quality knife to the market entails. If cost wasn’t in the equation, would using the same material for the lock and blade be ideal, or are there hidden issues with that? From my experience with firearms, specifically semi ...

Re: A perspective on a fad in the knife world.

I'm sorry if this is too out of topic but what is "fad" ? I rarely see terms (outside of technical terms) I don't understand ! Is it something like a trend, or fandom ? Exactly, a "fad" is a trend or widespread enthusiasm for something, whether or not it has any real value. Back...

Re: Appeal to bring back the stunning Titanium UK Pocket Knife

I have the Lil' Native slippie on order, I'd love to add a ti UKPK as well. I would already own a UKPK if they were still available in G10. (I have FRN folders and they are great...as tools. G10 and titanium scaled knives are better as knives I like to carry and use.) I don't want to derail this thr...

I've handled the compression lock lil' native and found it to clumsy for my big mitts. I've had the backlock version in and out of my cart numerous times but having never handled one, I never pulled the trigger. The slipjoint is a definite buy for me as soon as they are available...now I just need t...

Re: MagnaCut Long Term Impact?

I hope that it becomes the de-facto gold standard of knife steels, much like S30V has been for the last twenty years or so. It's really awesome to see and feel like a part of a new steel being created. Even though we had nothing to do with it, it feels like our baby. I'm curious to get my hands on a...
