Me too, the dealer didn't have a Finch, got to get one for comparison. Glad he had the Starling since it's a disco'd knife. Comparison is half the fun.

Byrd Starling much like Ladybug 3

The Starling is discontinued, found one at a gunshow for $10 got it. The FRN handle looks exactly like a Ladybug 3 except that it has a "flatter" finish. Blade shape is different than a LB-3 but the Starlings blade is beautiful too. This blade as well as the rocker are covered with a dull ...

This not about edge retention but about sharpness from the factory. I have a Native in CPM S30V, a Native III in VG10 and a Calypso Jr. in ZDP 189, it's a laminated blade. The Calypso Jr. ZDP is the sharpest knife I own and slices the best by quite a wide margin, it has a factory stock blade. The VG...

I really like the size and weight of my Calypso Jr. ZDP and it's the sharpest knife I have, it came that way from the factory.

That said, the Native from Wal-Mart fits my old hands better and the Caly Jr. is too expensive and too hard to replace for edc.

If the Dragonfly had a flatter back side where the clip is so that I could one hand it I'd have a couple already.

Hope they do come out with flat sides on both sides and a removable clip that can fit on either side.

A Walmart Native started all this for me. I went in looking for a Buck Prince 503, they were out, I saw the native on the picture board, handled it and that was IT.

That is exactly how television is made to be watched. They sure do put on a lot of knife flipping programs.

Got two early Ladybugs new!!!

I just love my black FRN Ladybug 3 but wanted an early model for comparison (and of course a yellow H1 model when available). Yesterday I went to a local gun/knife/etc dealer and selected the easier of the two black FRN early models they had. Then I stopped at Sportsman's warehouse and found another...

Can you easily one hand a Dragonfly?

When I got a Ladybug 3 one hand operation was awkward (I'm a Native guy) but after opening and closing it a couple thousand times I can one hand it just fine. The Dragonfly resists my thumb opening advances, that built in pocket clip causes it to roll in my fingers when I try to thumb the Spyderhole...

Thanks guys. Native IV, yeah, everybody needs one of those. I went back to the "gun" show the next day and got a 1975 Case Slimline Trapper, used but excellent Griptilian 555 with the oval hole and an Opinel No. 8 au Carbon. After using the oval hole you surely can see why Spyderco uses ro...

Got a Native III today!

The new Native III a black FRN PE knife and it's a beauty. The few Native III's I've handled have been somewhat stiff, so was this one but it was easily remedied. After pivot rivet tapping, back spring lightening and smoothing the inside of the handle, mostly at the points, this Native III is even s...

Which one is which? They look pretty much the same to me but with a small variation in the blade. Also they look a lot like my Calypso Jr. but without the safety catch aka lock. One is CPM S30V, that would be made in Golden IIRC. The other is VG-10 so it's probably made in Seki, is this right? Anywa...

FRN is just fine, it works, looks good (to my eye anyway) and it makes a light knife. The H1 Ladybug is a must have, yellow is ok but black would be nice too. I'll have to get one of the old style Ladybugs, fortunately I know where there are a couple. A clip would be nice, given the size of the Lady...

That's neat, now you have a knife that's been on an adventure without you!

Glad it had a happy ending and that was a great job of documenting the adventure and of cleaning the Tenacious up too.

I'm sitting here one handing a Ladybug 3 right now. It has turned out to be a lot of fun. Now I need to get one of the original smaller hole kind and one of the new H1 yellow Ladybugs. I love the Buck 500 series but the LB is just more fun to play with, it lives in my shirt pocket for easy access. T...
