Re: Amsterdam Meet 2015 report of upcoming Spyderco prototypes

The Mamba looks amazing! If it hits production, I will be buying one. Love the up-swept blade, which reminds me of favorite designs such as the Chinook and BM 860. Size and flipper deployment are great. The killer profile of the handle and the contoured machining of the CF really match up perfectly ...

Re: Spyderco K2 after a month of use.

How is the lock setting in? I was set to get one of these upon release. However, I've been holding off due to reports of late lockup or the lock hitting the opposite scale after short term use.

This K2 design is at the top of my list for upcoming knives. This is a phenomenal design, with aesthetics that reach right out to me. Hopefully the wait won't be too long. The 10v steel and the dimensions are aspects I truly hope to see in the production version.

The Tuff is one of the designs I have been watching with great anticipation. I really loved the looks of the scales with the pocket shredder texture. The dimpled design takes something away from the overall look of the knife. It could be my perception that the dimples look haphazardly placed on the ...

I haven't had very many fit and finish issues with regular production Spyderco knives. However, I've noticed almost every sprint I get has something that sticks out. BD30 Manix had the chewed up edges on the liners, 20CP Para had uneven jimping, some small bald patches on the g-10 texturing and the ...

Now that Spyderco has refined the geometry of their backlock, I can see the next Chinook getting a refined super backlock. It may be similar to the proposed updates to the backlock Manix.

I just received my FRCP Manix today. It seems like I have been waiting forever for a lightweight Manix with bi-directional textured handles. Now it's here and it's even better than I would have imagined. I would have been happy with plain old FRN, but FRCP takes it to a new level in appearance. This...

Twill carbon fiber

I have seen a few guys have taken their Gayle Bradley's apart. Can anyone tell me if the scales are full carbon fiber or are they carbon fiber over g10?

Just out of curiosity, why do you guys want a 4 mm blade on the big Manix 2? Is there a functional advantage that you have noticed when using a 3.5 mm blade vs. 4 mm? Or even a 3 mm to 4 mm?

Is it MBC rated though? I saw it described as hard use rated (like the ParaMilitary) in the supplement.

I'm still waiting to see if Spyderco even plans to expand its use of 154cm. I started a post asking about this awhile ago.
I would welcome the introduction of CPM154 as well. Maybe a good mule steel.

Skeletonizing liners seems to primarily reduce the weight of the liners vs. solid ones.
Aside from adding structural rigidity to the scales, metal liners also provide an increased number of potential clip mounting points. If you were to tap the FRN directly, the screws wouldn't stay in very long.

The clear Manix looks cool. Love the wire clip. Removing the liners from the equation definitely solves the expected weight loss. The pinned construction kinda brings it down a notch, but they must have to compromise somewhere. I am just wondering if the clear material is actually FRN or a new mater...
