Re: What was your first Spyderco

My first was the plain edge, saber grind, black FRN Delica 4. To be honest I wasn't really impressed... Sold it off and bought a Caly 3, Dragonfly, a few Enduras and a few ladybugs.

Now they are all gone except one. A brand new Delica plain edge. I guess you need to carry this knife for a while to ...

Re: Tip down carry

Interesting thread... Over the years I've never had any issues with either method of carry and I am very active.

These days I prefer tip down inside the waistband at 12:30. But you guys got me thinking... If that blade ever opened up and I was sitting the wrong way. Time to tighten up the ...

Re: Should I grind down a live blade to make a trainer???

You CAN, but the (now blunt) edge is still thinner than a proper trainer. It'll work for deployment drills, but should not be used for any kind of hard contact. A much safer option is something like this:

Re: Should I grind down a live blade to make a trainer???

Interesting... I will look into the Nok training program. However, I can probably make that Endura "trainer" out of the sole of an old slipper and some tape. Really anything soft the size of your carry knife would work for sparring. I would not use a steel trainer for hard contact. Just to practice ...

Re: Paramilitary 2 Availability...??

Sorry if I missed it while scanning this thread but... Is the black blade/ digicam handle discontinued? I spotted one the other day. Maybe I'll grab it just for the heck of it.

Should I grind down a live blade to make a trainer???

Greetings from Thailand,

Wow it's been about five years since I logged in here but I have been lurking... Lot's of exciting stuff in the Spyderco line up.

I've been living in Asia for about a year now and I don't have any knives... Well, there is a lady bug on my key chain. :D

I want to pick up ...

I haven't found "perfect" yet but the Spyderco Endura Wave is about as close as it gets. This is a defensive blade so I don't mind that it's ugly as sin...

It's super fast, slim, light weight, ergonomic, big and small at the same time? priced right and they make a trainer for it.

It's everything ...

Let's talk about sharpening...

Greetings gang. I finally got around to using my sharpmaker and watching the DVD that came with it. I believe I heard Sal say they ship their knives out with a "utility" edge. Does anyone sharpen their blades when they are brand new? Every knife I've ordered came very sharp out of the box but it ...

Take the Caly3 and shrink it to 3.25" closed.

Offer it in black or orange G-10.

That would be my dream EDC blade. :)

Blades and colors.

So you can't mix and match the handle colors and blade types? I thought I read in a previous thread that that was an option. :(

I was hoping to get an Orange leaf shaped blade. Oh well, I'll think about what version I want. Maybe I'll spring for both. :D

Another vote for the Delica 4. I would get a plain jane, black FRN, plain edge Delica. It's a must have for any knife lover. You can adjust the clip any way you want. It's a great EDC blade. :)

I agree that the D4 is a must have. It's the Spyderco that started my love for the brand. I would say get the plain edge FRN. Great bang for your buck.

Greetings

I thought "bite" meant you cut yourself with your new blade. :D But maybe that's just me... ;)

I have a Byrd Robin as well and it's a fine knife. I love that size blade for my EDC knife. I keep it loose in the pocket when I carry in a suit and forget I have it. I also have a Dragonfly and a very ...

I've been packing my new FRN D'fly loose in the suit pocket. It replaced a Byrd Robin. I'm waiting for the Urban to come out and I'll give it a try.

I've been drooling over a MOP Kiwi but I just can't justify the purchase. When I carry loose in the pocket the knife shares a pocket with my keys. I ...

Any word on prices for the Urban? I'm hoping I can get 2 for $100. Is that reasonable?

Also, I think I read that you can get either G-10 color with any blade combo. Can someone please ...

In regards to what? The action of the Caly3 or the D'fly?

I also have a Ladybug, Delica 4 and Byrd Robin from the Spyderco line.

I've been packing the Caly3 for a few days and I'm in love! What a great knife. I wouldn't change a thing about this :spyder: perfection. I hope they keep this model just the way it is for many years to come. The gritty feel of the action is getting better. I thought it was good ...
