Because my grandfather, and several uncles served in WWII, in high school I was very much into reading about WWII, especially the overall history surrounding the war, the espionage conducted on both sides (OSS), and especially the weapons and training (WWII CQC is awesome!). During this reading I fo...

Do you remember what was probably the most memorable, and funniest, knife scene in a movie was? You got it, the one where Crocodile Dundee’s says, “That’s not a knife, this is a knife.” It’s fun to speculate about some predator’s response to the Civilian being deployed, but only in its proper contex...

In my press I use a pre-ground heaping tablespoon of beans per each 2-cups, then I way over-grind the beans (the finer the grind, the more coffee bean surface area exposed). I also never drink the last quarter of each cup.

How much were you charged, just out of curiosity? To answer your question, according to the warranty, the knife will be repaired or replaced at no cost if it was damaged via material or manufacturer defect. However, if the knife was broken by its owner, then there is a $20.00 service charge + $5.00...

Spyderco's Customer Service...

Spyderco has a detailed customer service warranty statement that outlines the conditions of what is covered for repair and replacement, and cost where necessary. After reading that statement recently, I sent two knives in to Spyderco for repair. I emailed, then called Spyderco's Customer Service Dep...

From the ‘git-go’ my Yojimbo has been a fantastic knife. When I first received it, as expected everything was so crisp and tight that I received a few blisters from "playing" with it a bit much, but now, and with no blade play, everything has worn in perfectly to my tastes. An aside: after...

My major oversight! I totally forgot to congratulate and thank Sal and the entire Spyderco crew, so congratulations and thank you! It is my opinion that the Yojimbo is within the list of top 10 Spyderco knives ever produced for overall quality and design.

I have mine, I've retired everything I use to use for EDC, luckily for me no serial number ;o).

Michael,

Congratulations! This knife rocks! It's absolutely everything I imagined and knew it would be, just an awesome design!

I've no preference, I like 'em both for different reasons. I've owned knives from both companies for many years, used and abused 'em all, and will continue to purchase products from both companies. Ultimately it just comes down to what is being made that year that "tickles my fancy," this ...

Home security is multi layered, and should include more contingencies than if someone is breaking into your home. And, it’s not just about what brand or model of knife you have under your pillow, or the model firearm in your bedside drawer. As an example (and yes it’s merely my opinion), in a sudden...

I own a "straight" ground by Joe Blum, my wife owns a "straight" ground by Justin Gingrich, and both knives were much better than expected (exceeding my already high expectations!). N.B. Please don't make the mistake of trying to compare and contrast it with the La Griffe (it's n...

A neat little trick that I read about somewhere (Don Rearic's site maybe?) was to put a plastic tie through the Spyder hole to affect an improvised wave opener. I did this with my Kerambit, and slid the knife into my left rear pocket, blade forward. With just a little practice, I am now able to plac...

I just got mine, initial impression; "It's so cooooool!" I've been partial to the hawksbill, and the kerambit, for quite some time; this one is no exception, it's an excellent execution in "functional design." Construction is solid. I especially noted the lock snapping into place...

Michael Janich put a lot of thought into designing the Ronin and Yojimbo, and a significant amount of testing to ensure the performance and durability of his design. Plus, the martial nature of the Yojimbo, with its straight edge and spine-to-edge ramped tip geometry, necessitate a thin point. If yo...
