Re: FRN/Lightweights: I just can’t get into them
Can't read through the thread right now, but wanted to through my 2 cents in. I don't really pay attention to weight of knifes, as long as its balanced. But I work in a machine shop, and my hands are always covered in some kind of coolant, cutting oil, or grease. In this area I prefer the frn mostly...

No pics but I used my Santoku to quarter a chicken for grilling out. The Santoku has been the main knife I reach for in the kitchen. I enjoy how easy it was to wash it after cutting raw chicken.

Re: Permanent damage that you've actually done to a knife?
Spyderhawk H1. When the Spyderhawk was first released in H1. Less than a week of owning it. I was cutting too close to a metal table. I underestimated how easily the Spyderhawk would cut. Passed right through what I was cutting, and right into the table. It rolled about an 1/8" of the tip. I le...

Re: Who edc's their Endura?
I had a great moment the other day at work. Most days I carry my zdp Endura. I was showing it to a coworker. He enjoys Spyderco, but mainly carries a bugout. He looked at it. The comments on how long the blade is. Then he holds it, and it was like flipping a switch. As soon as he realized how well i...

Re: Yojimbo vs PM2 durability
I just got my PM2 yesterday, so I can't make any claim to its durability. But I've used Spyderco for many years. It is definitely a product you can trust with your life. Which ever model you get. I'd say go with the one that is more comfortable. I've never held a Yojimbo to compare this to, but I ha...

Is that the Biblio? I keep coming back to that knife. My only hesitation is the liner lock.

Re: Caly 3.5 Light Weight: Any News?
So I just discovered and read through the thread. I am very happy to see new life in the Calypso line. I have owned one of every Calypso design. The crown jewel of my collection is an original Calypso fully serrated with a perfectly straight blade. I know I have said the Caly 3.5 was the perfect kni...

Re: Anyone have and use a Mora Eldris?
I’ve got an Esee Candiru, a very capable little knife. It is heavy, though. I have an Esee Izula. I do have it scout carry on my belt. It is a great knife, and I love Esee's warranty. I went with the black oxide stone wash finish. If you want something lighter. I would recommend a crkt minimalist. ...

Re: Jeweler's Loupes & Magnifying devices?
I'm a machinist, and I use a loupe and small comparator almost daily. Mainly I use it for inspecting the cutting edge of my tools. Checking the .007" nose radius of cutter, or the teeth of a #0-80 tap are getting hard to see with the naked eye these days. I have two I keep in my toolbox. One is...

Re: Sal, Can We Form A Collective, And Order An Exclusive?
I like this idea. Something exclusive to the forum would be nice. I know Spyderco has done a few Forum knives in the past. I remember a Native model forum knife. I would say to help everyone come together. Spyderco could let us know which models to choose from. Specific steels and handle materials t...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
D2 has a special place in my heart. When I was learning to be a machinist. The first metal I cut, heat treated, and ground was D2. I love tool steels in general. I also know that many tool steels have better performance. But D2 wins out for sentimental reasons. ZDP-189 is probably the steel I've car...

Re: Who is into fixed blades?
I love small fixed blades, scout carry, for edc. I've been carrying my PD1 Mule for the last few days. I rotate through my CRKT Minimalist clever, Esee Izula, and Mora Eldris most days. The Eldris, I carry in my lfp with a lanyard attached from the sheath to a belt loop. All others ride front right ...
