Thanks for the great post. There is lot of good info here. I don't own a Sharpmaker yet, but with some patience and practice I've taught myself (with the help of threads like this) in the past 6 months to sharpen freehand using bench stones. I'm now getting good consistent results, I also find this ...

While I know I'd love the CF handles, if it helps keep the cost down I'd be more than happy with G10.

Hi there,
Welcome aboard. I'm no big collector by any means, but the Caly JR was the one which got me bitten by the bug. A true classic. Unfortunately mine looks more like Wharncliff these days after an overenthusiastic sharpening incident :o ... still love it all the same though.

Good to here some comments on the crossbill, unfortunately there's no way for me to handle one before purchasing. I like the shallow curve of both the crossbill & Superhawk but sadly the Superhawk well out of my price range at the moment, especially down this end of the world. I too would to be ...

Somthing for the Lil temp fans...

We've got an updated Lil' Temperance design that we thought about making a run with the Superhawk lock. Maybe G-10 & VG-10, made in Seki.

Saving for that Rainy day..

Well I've decided to put my Spydie purchases on hold for a while, just to make sure there is enough money in the kitty when some the of new models get released. Now on the back burner for me are the Persian, Pacific salt, Catcherman, , Caly3 another Para & mini Manix. I'm now eagerly waiting on ...

Here's a couple of quick pics, hope they hope you out. Also have some more pics here.. http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36865 . I've been asking my self the same question, as I don't own the Caly 3 yet. I love my vg10 caly jr, but I dont really see it as a true "workhorse". If your happy with blade size etc but just feel that the caly jr isn't quite rugged enough then the g10 Caly 3's your best bet. As far as the P...

Your probably right about the red loctite being overkill on a pocket knife, but as for me that's what I've always had on hand from being used in automotive applications. I'm used to working with it and it gives me no problems.

I give all of my Spydies a proper "tune up" every 6-8 weeks. A couple of them ( Para & Chinook) have come from the factory with what looks to me like red loctite. This has Never bothered me when disassembling the knife. I always clean the threads and re-apply red loctite when I reassem...
