Topic: Has anyone removed the glossy finish on CF scales?

I've thought about this as well. I don't like the shiny look on my Sage1, and much prefer a matte finish on CF. I'm thinking about taking the clip off, and wet sanding the scales while on the knife. Not really sure though, and hoping to see a post one day showing someone that's tried it on the Taiwa...

He may be wanting to keep his warranty intact.

From my understanding taking a spyderco apart voids the warranty. Is this true on all models?

Mini Copperlock. I also have the large, and really like both. They only made them in CV for one year back in the late 90's.

When I force a Patina(mainly on Case CV) I don't take the knife apart. I stick the blade in an apple for an hour, then dab off blade. Then do the same with an orange. Potato for about 20 min. Longer if you want more brown. Then do step one and two again. Rinse blade with hot water, knock the patina ...

I think the brown is the best looking PARA2 that has been made so far, or will be made this year... other than maybe the CF. I love S30V for an all around steel, and this one should be the same, but a bit tougher. So I'm pretty sure I'll love this steel. And mine only cost about $20 more than I paid...

Got mine Tuesday, and it looks great. Really like the Brown G-10, blade centered, no blade play, and the lock feels great.

I think he was just going along with the current economy, and was wanting to keep it under $1000.

It's not "that" brittle at all. The carpet didn't do it, but the concrete slab under the carpet. Or at least I assume his place was built on a slab instead of a crawl space with wood floors. Yes, there’s a concrete slab under the carpet and padding. I’m sure it’s the fault of the concrete...

I really like my Foliage Green G10 drop point. I've used slip joints since I was a kid, and feel very safe with them. And the UKPK is as safe as you can get in a non locking knife. With finger in choil there is no way to close it on yourself, and not having to use a lock is nice at times. Found a de...

I think those will go up in price even if the economy gets no better.

That being said, I often buy two of the same model that I really like, and have always sold one before the price gets very high. I wish I had some of them back, but I can't seem to keep an extra around very long.

I have a paramilitary 2 as well - I didn't know S30 was ''that'' brittle - I knew it was, but I'm surprised it broke after being dropped on carpet. It's not "that" brittle at all. The carpet didn't do it, but the concrete slab under the carpet. Or at least I assume his place was built on ...

IMO the knife sold so fast because of the steel, not the color. I guess I could pull out a couple of my old Patagonia jackets from the 80's that are the same color... if dark green does comes back in style that is :p I did order two, but do wish they would have used a more current shade of green. Ho...

My drop point FG G10 UKPK is one of my favorite Spyderco's. With the way the index finger fits into the choil it would be hard for even a beginner to cut them self with one. I always have a custom slip joint in my left pocket, and have used them for over 40 years. I've never cut myself with a slip j...

On Spyderco's site, it says that this is a Distributor Exclusive for Blue Ridge Knives. But right now, it only seems to be advertised or even mentioned on KW's site. Yep, two great products you have there. Congrats!

An 870 Wingmaster was my first shotgun(high school 1976), and it is as slick as glass.

I've since bought an 870 Express for home protection. I still haven't gotten around to putting any add-ons on it, but will get around to it one day.

Well, it may be an 8 year old thread, but I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I wish every locking folder I own had a spyderco wire clip. I like the Spyderco tempered wire clips better than any clip I've ever had.

Thanks for the Vid !

The last military I got(brown XHP) locks up very quite also. All of my others have that twack that your S90V does.

It is locking up fine, but I do miss the loud twack. I much prefer it over a sticky lock though, as a couple of my Militaries have had.

Nice Millie. I thought I read somewhere that it has a silver clip instead of black. Is that correct? I'm sure they will be silver, or at least hope so. I put one of the older silver clips that wasn't very shiny on my CF BG42 Military that I carry. IMO a matte silver clip looks great on CF. If I car...
