Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

The Chaparral was designed to be a gents folder sized for the office and for the future. We are and will be making this pattern in a variety of handle materials in a effort to provide the user with some thing that would be close to his/her preference.

I love the pro-files, how about a travel version ?

Hi, I've been using the pro-files to sharpen my spydies and other knives, and I love them : they're the best tools I have for sharpening serrated knives, and great for all other knives too.

However, they're a little bulky when it comes to daily carry, so what about a travel version, like the ...

For me the beveled spine represents one of the small ironies of life, or perhaps just another proof that Sal believes in Emerson's theory regarding consistency as strongly as I do. :D I see it as one of the few times he places esthetics above function and ergonomics since, for any given blade ...

I'm surprised there is still as many as that... I bought 5, I'm eager to receive them, they're such a bargain for wannabe knife modders like me.
With a simple paracord wrap, they're accessible to almost everyone as a cheap EDC fixed blade, too. (the sheath is the tricky part though, an aftermarket ...

To Spyderco : I suggest reconsidering a short-time knife number limit (1 week for example, where you can only purchase 2 or 3 knives ?)

As much as I'd like to order more than 2 or 3, I would like to be sure to be able to order at least 2.

I think that a $20 Spyderco fixed blade will certainly ...

I'm getting a few for improving my handle-making skill (I was somehow reluctant to put my first tries at micarta handles on the 52100 mule and on a CPM-M4 one. $20 mule is a different story), and maybe sell or give away the ones I make handles for.

I'm in for 4 of them !
I'd be in for 5 of them if the international shipping was $25 for $0 to $100 shopping cart, instead of $0 to $99...

Edit : well, if the official price were to be $19.99 instead of $20 that would enable us foreigners to get more knives, wouldn't it ?

ahem... this thread has been very bad to my wallet...

I just placed an order on that site, for a Rock Salt, of course, a Forester, a Lava and several (more normally priced) other knives (Centofante3, 2 Bugs, a Victorinox manager and a BM42) and sharpeners (DMT XXC, Sharpmaker to replace the one I ...

Great idea ! Like a shorter Caly III blade on a Swick body ? Sounds awesome !!!

If it's not over $60, I'll buy at least one for sure. (if it has a sheath, change that limit to $90)
My suggestion would be the same that has been already given : please add a sheath.
I ordered 3 of the new run of ...

I'd say the grip is the problem here... A naked mule isn't what I'd call comfortable. a nice paracord grip is better, but then it's not as thin as a Swick.

Aren't the diamond rods for the sharpmaker very coarse? I dont know, because i dont have them (YET).
I find them pretty coarse, they did quite a quick job of my S90V mule that I finished last week, and on which I accidentally sanded a bit of the edge.

To take back to life this pretty damaged edge ...

Caly III with:
- black G10 handles
- tip-down low-profile wire clip
- Calypso-Jr-like swedge on the back of the blade.
- Manix-II-like traction grooves on the liners
- S90V blade
- same lock as the current Caly III, or UKPK-like without lock.
- FFG or convex 2.5mm thick blade.

Here's what is going ...

Be sure to wear a pretty serious dust protection when sanding the CF, or it'll damage your lungs quickly.

Good luck for your MT job !

I like the squared off closed profile....but how does it lock?

Looks like it is a compression lock. We can see the tab on the top closed one, and the stop pins are at the right place.

I'd rather see a Ronin than a Yojimbo myself, but that Akimbo looks pretty cool, even more in FFG. I would put ...
