Imagine how easy it would have been if you used a fully serrated one........ :D

Sorry, couldn't resist :o

Just imagine how easy it would have been if he just sliced from the "neck" to the "bottom" down the front or back with only one cut. Then just put the rock in that way. Kind of like one of ...

I can. A manix or a Strider SNG. The Spyderco Military is truley sweet, but I think when each are put to torture tests, the military will fall way short.

I'm pretty sure that type of information is confidential. Not many companies do give out that kind of stuff. Joe

It's just a simple part of the knife setup, which is not that difficult to find out for yourself if you are a knife maker/forger. To say it is confidential seems a little extreme. If ...

...so what lock-arm metal is used for laminated ZDP blades

I am curious, on my caly3, what the mating metal is made of on the locking arm. It seems that every thread Ive searched about lock-bar/arm material, I can never get a straight answer about if they are made of the same steel as the blade. Every response to someones question about it is basically ...

For some reason it reminds me of a Terzoula Starmate....

About the rivets, ever since I got myself a riveting tool, I have a whole new appreciation for rivet construction. Machine screws, bots, and nuts are nice, but you gotta love the utilitarianess of rivets. :D

Topic: UKPK locking question?

For a slipjoint, the UKPK's open position is VERY "lock-back" like. It has a very audible and tactile (not to be confused with the word tactical) snap. As far as the ability to shut accidently, it is very unlikley. There is quite a bit of resistance to coming "unlocked". Then you have the half stop ...

Well...I finnaly have my holy grail.

The Caly3. wow. :)

If I had my own knife production shop with every machine imaginable to produce any knife type, shape, material, you name it, then I would make the Caly3 all day everyday. Sure I would vary different things such as handle and blade materials, but other than that....the Caly3 is ...

This is the wrong technique anyway. Proper technique for opening blister packs in to insert the first little bit of the tip perpendicularly into the package and then bend the knife so it is parallel to the package and slowly slice around. It's significantly easier and safer this way.

well thats ...

Yeah, I think the Carbon fiber/zdp laminate caly3 is the best for what it is. A small classy knife with a blade that will stay sharp for a long time. With smaller knives, I think it is safer to have a razor edge more often than not.

I am actually trying to sell my brand new UKPK so I can get a ...

How I got "bit" was cutting corrugated cardboard and using a sawing motion - blade bound, pushed a little up on the handle instead of straight. This happened with one of my Vic's. Other times - not necessarily getting cut, but when you "poke" into something and the angle is wrong - little slip of ...

I am considering getting a Caly three, and I am not sure which handle I want yet. I was hoping to get some feedback from other Caly three owners. Mine will be the plain blade.

carbon fiber has the zdp189/440 laminate steel

since it is a knife, and the whole point of a ...

I've had the odd one close on me and got that 1/2" bite :) Usually happens when I'm using a Vic or a slippie - pushing it a bit hard and not paying attention :)

I still dont understand how "pushing hard" or just cutting with more force will allow a greate chance of getting cut by a slip-joint ...

Yes, you are being too paranoid. And yes, you'll probably close the blade on your finger someday. It is part of learning how to use a slipjoint knife correctly, the pain and blood tell you in no uncertain terms that you have just done something wrong. After you do that a few times, you learn to pay ...
