Re: Pacific Salt 1st Gen question

I agree with some of the posts here in that I also prefer the Pac Salt 1 over the Pac Salt 2. Pacific Salt 1 is just pure simplicity and a wonderful user.

However, I prefer the Salt 2 over the Salt 1 in the smaller knives.(weird, eh?)

For lightweight work, you just can’t beat the salt knives for hiking and backpacking.

Re: Browsing through the product guide: The two middle ground models that are still missing imo

I agree that an Endela Salt in Magnacut would be great (or in LC200N).

Also, a Stretch 2 Salt would be cool (in Magnacut or LC200N).

Not sure why these haven’t been made yet… but hopefully some day we’ll see them.

Re: if you could only own a 5 Spyderco knife collection:

If I’m going to have to limit my Spydercos, then; I’m going to really limit them to just Two: Delica Endura When I was using knives a lot more than I am atm, it made sense to me to have a small and large version of the same knife. A smaller knife for pocket carry most of the time, and a larger one ...

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?

I have no use in steel that forces me to send my knife back for factory resharpening, or forces me to buy an expensive sharpening system and regrind the angle to increase the performance say 100%. I want something i can sharpen on my sharpmaker. It's like buying an expensive motorcycle that goes 20...

Re: LC200N Salt 2 Incredible

I've posted about using my serrated LC200N UKPK for the last couple of years. Since they were so cheap on clearance, I picked up a couple of LC200N Wharncliffe Salt 2 knives and have been using one for a week or so. I'm impressed. The Salt 2 weighs less than 2 oz, offers a secure, full-hand grip, a...

Yeah... I agree with the sentiment.

I always carry a Salt 2 (basically a lighter delica). When headed outdoors, I take a Pac Salt. Simple, rugged, lightweight, etc...

Re: Kitchen knives and salt steels just curious

Yeah… I think steels like H1, H2, LC200N, etc., really excel in folders since there are lots of nooks and crannies to get stuff stuck in and cause corrosion. Of course, if you are on the ocean or something like that, I really see the value in these steels in any type of knife. For most other uses, i...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin

I’m always surprised how little air time Vanax seems to get - it is very similar to Magnacut (slightly lower toughness but fractionally higher edge retention and corrosion resistance), at least on paper. I have a quiet carry drift in Vanax and a Magnacut mule and they really are very similar to liv...

Re: Crossing the Canada Border with a knife?

they can take any folder even if its stiff as heck they will open it 80% of the way and flick the rest and its still considered illegal to bring in. Law is wack. We are allowed to have them but we are not allowed to bring them in from across the border. Yet our knife dealers and suppliers are able ...

Re: Salt question

Can't go wrong with either. I have a slight preference for the H series versions but I love my LC200N versions as well. I have multiples in both steels. Yeah, I agree… and I too have multiples in both steels (no H2 yet though). But my H1 Salts are all serrated. Had a plain edge H1 a long time ago a...

Re: Salt question

I agree with vivi. I think the Pac Salt is the best overall knife Spyderco makes. Any variety is good…I prefer LC200N in plain edge due to the FFG. I have owned MANY Spyderco knives and have gotten rid of all except Pac Salts and Salts (Delica size). They serve me very well… when I need more knife t...

Why not an actual kitchen knife for kitchen knife jobs? I really want to get one of these… cool knive...

Pac Salt 2 with modified (pointier) tip in plain edge. But this is back-up… for my walks outdoors, some kind of stick or pvc pipe is far better if you have to defend yourself against a dog. Just my opinion.

Easy: Pac Salt (1 or 2 doesn't matter). Pac Salt 2 in PE LC200N is what I use the most.
