Re: Knife Center Native 5 Salt in magnacut
I remember seeing somewhere that Sal said they are trying to nail down the heat treat to maximize the properties of the steel. Rest assured that when it does come out, it will be made right.

Re: The Vivi Conundrum.
Here is my magnacut Pacific Salt request. 1. The simpliest option is just to add a magnacut version to mix and keep everything else the same. Maybe the bright orange handle to make it different than the H1 and LC200N. But whatever color is fine. 2. My ideal knife would be this. I would want it to b...

Re: The Vivi Conundrum.
The Stretch 2 XL is linerless and this gives me great hope that Spyderco is moving in the direction of making more FRN knives that are linerless (not just the salts). I've said it many times: if you are using a knife to do tasks that are appropriate for a folder, the liners really offer no advantag...

Re: Aqua Salt with other steels? Would you be interested?
Hi Woodpecker, That would require a new mold. Molds are quite expensive. We don't think a new model would support the mold costs. Also, to make a new mold would push another new model out of queue. sal Would be great to have a regular fixed blade model in Magnacut… with a comfy handle for outdoorsy...

Re: Flying into Canada
My brother is a Canadian citizen and of late is extremely worried about the totalitarianism that is taking hold up there.
Take a swiss army knife...that's probably your best bet. If they can find a way to confiscate it, they will.

Re: Falling out of love with serrations
I agree with you, Vivi. I like thin Spyderco serrated edges for some tasks in the kitchen, but I have no need for a serrated edge in most other applications.

Re: Pound for pound the highest performing Spyderco is...
Pac Salt serrated H1 is the king (pound for pound). Not the lightest but still the best IMHO. The performance to weight ratio is still unmatched for me. While that’s likely true in a literal sense, the spirit of this thread was how awesome the ladybug is given its size. I just volunteered and ran a...

Re: Aqua Salt with other steels? Would you be interested?
I agree with you, jkurtz7. I am interested in magnacut, but I really do appreciate the ease of sharpening and toughness of H1 and LC200N. Isn’t it interesting that people who use knives for a living (butchers, etc…) don’t buy any of these ‘super steels’? They are just fine with a basic carbon or sta...

Re: Aqua Salt with other steels? Would you be interested?
Hey Sal… how about a redux of the AquaSalt in FFG Magnacut? That would be an awesome knife! (Black with satin blade!)

Re: Aqua Salt with other steels? Would you be interested?
That’s too bad…but perhaps a regular production fixed blade ‘survival/bushcraft’ in Magnacut is possible? Seems like there would be a lot of demand for this type of knife.

MagnaCut Pac Salt? Sal?
Sal...can we expect a MagnaCut Pac Salt in the near future? It seems this would be a great combination since the Pac Salt is a larger blade which would be great in a tougher-than-average steel like MagnaCut. This and the fact that that MagnaCut is VERY stainless seems like justification enough...at ...

Re: POLL: If you could pick the next SALT model …
Although I am looking forward to this model, I've always felt that a Stretch 2 as a salt model would be great as an EDC.

Re: Lesson learned
Admittedly, I have not read all the posts, but the short answer is yes, always swap blades and lock bars. I’ve had the best results when doing this.

Re: Lightweights - Salty or Bust!
If it's FRN, I prefer the linerless salt models. No need for the extra weight! I do not purchase liner FRN models any longer...sold them all off.

Not to derail the conversation, but I want a linerless, stretch 2…with the og blade shape. In MagnaCut, please. :)

Re: Stretch XL discussion
Linerless construction without rustproof blade seems to me more of a disadvantage. Would definitely get a Salt version of this design though. I agree...but also think at the same time that liners in any of these models is not really adding too much to the design (except for weight). :winking-tongue
