Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

I may have figured out what ails my shoulder. Supplements! I take a lot of them and just stopped MK-7, which is vitamin K2. I'll stop taking it for a month and see what happens. It allegedly strips calcium out of veins and transfers it to bones. After the 3-way bypass in 2017, I wanted to see if I ...

Re: First aid and CPR certification

When I worked as a massage therapist, I had to get certified in CPR every couple of years. One thing I recall the teacher saying was that the chest compressions should ideally be timed in your head to the beat of the song Stayin’ Alive by The Bee Gees. “Ah-ha-ha-ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive…” Jim

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Side Kicks Keep Getting Proven Right The side kick was always my favorite kick. I personally wouldn't use it above the knee on the street, but in sparring and competition, any level worked for me. For myself, the low sidekick to the knee or shin is better and safer to use than the Muay Thai round ki...

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Allegedly Norman Schwarzkopf said, "The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war." The folks losing in these combative sports competitions are better than 90% of the street fighters out there. Besides, win lose or draw it is fun to get in there and do it. Agreed. One thing I hav...

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Martial Arts vs Street Fighting Featuring Geoff Thompson As always, excellent stuff from Geoff Thompson. Not many 'traditional' martial arts emphasize pre-emptive striking. And Mr. Thompson emphasizes having one good, highly-developed, pre-emptive strike. Other techniques and skills can be used for ...

I thought that Buck's base steel was 420HC? I know their HT of that is quite good.

Re: What are you listening to?

My first trip to San Francisco was with my family at age 4 (in 1967, during the "Summer of Love"). I do vaguely remember seeing hippies in Golden Gate Park. At the time, my biggest highlight from the trip was my parents buying me a cool toy cable car... 🙂 https://youtu.be/LlVwcBTXwmo Jim

He Watched Through the Thermal Scope As It Ripped the Hog in Half (Channel: The Round Table Of Knowledge By HTH) There are countless reports of cryptids (such as Bigfoot, etc.), displaying "unnatural" (to us) strength and power. Strength and power that even the largest, most powerful known...

Re: Unusual, and/or Paranormal Events

Hi, Max. Thanks! I actually read the book The Men Who Stare at Goats many years ago. Actually read it before the movie came out (probably before the movie was made). 🙂 Very interesting, but TBH, I'm not surprised by anything, or by any possibilities. Jim At this point me neither Jim, it's advisable...

Didn't want to create other thread, never thought about it, but noticed that my Military doesn't have signature of Sal or Eric on the blade, is it possible for S110V release? :(

I own 4 Militaries, including one in S110V, and NONE of mine have Sal or Eric’s signature on the blade.

Re: SE MagnaCut Testing Thread

Well this is interesting, not really sure what to call this, surely not a patina?? This morning I cut up some pizza and wiped the blade off with a paper towel but it left some residue on the blade. I was in a hurry so I just closed it and put it away. Now about 5 hours later I wipe it off, starting...

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

TBH, almost all of the technical metallurgy/HT stuff discussed on knife forums goes way over my head. I simply like what I enjoy cutting with and resharpening. At this point in my life, I have no need to use most steels to their maximum potential. I'm sure there are knife users who do, and that is g...
