I was tying down a mattress for a client with many lefty bumper stickers. I used a delica to cut the rope that I had just used to attach the mattress to his car. He remarked about the fact that I used such a big knife to do the job. I replied, that using my teeth to cut the rope, would set the huma...

I have 3" and 4" tanto Voyagers. They make great beater knives. I also have an SRK with Carbon V steel. The Carbon V holds its edge extremely well and usually comes back to razor sharp with a couple swipes on my Sharpmaker. Lynn Thompson is an arrogant showman but I have tried several of h...

Hello Spygineer,

The Captain is a good choice. I personally like a knife with a pointier blade. He might find the Caly3 more versatile. It has sturdy construction and what I think is a very functional and reasonably strong blade shape. It costs a bit less too!

Just my two cents...

My last meal would have to be tortellini bolognese. Mmmm, so good!

I grew up in NJ with lots of wonderful mom & pop Italian restaurants. I live in IN now. Boy do I miss my authentic Italian food. Cottage cheese in lasagna...YUCK!

I like to keep as low a profile as possible so stickers are out. If I want people to know my thoughts, I'll tell them what I'm thinking...and I do.

Hmm... I have to disagree about that. If anything, the hole makes it higher profile. A knife that uses a thumbstud just sticks out less. Imagine if a SAK had a hole opener. The thumbhole is my favorite, though. It won't dig into my thumb like a stud will, and there's a much less likelihood that my ...

You people are nuts. It would be way safer to burgler-proof your dwelling than depend on a knife in your pj's or a shotgun in your bedroom suite's headboard. Steel entrance doors and double rigged alarm systems on the windows would work better. If I lived in Baltimore I'd probably do both but I do ...

Bladesmith and writer Wayne Goddard recommends "wiping off" the burr by increasing the sharpening angle by a couple of degrees on the last pass or two on the sharpener. Extremely light pressure must be used as well. It works for me. My knives hold their edges much better since I started us...

I like both the round hole and thumb studs but I feel that holes can be safer than thumb studs in some circumstances. I pulled a "studded" folder from my pocket while wearing a tool belt and it snagged the belt and partially opened, about 20 degrees. I got a pretty good cut when I shifted ...

After experiencing a break-in while I was sleeping I decided to keep a weapon close by at night. For years it was a .357 Magnum or a machete but with kids now that is a bit dangerous. For the last few years I've slept with a Native in the pocket of my shorts. It's never accidentally opened...I'm not...
