The Tenacious would need a complete redesign to become a mid lock knife. It would really be a new model. Price point would probably be way higher, especially with the steels you mentioned. Molds for the handle are quite expensive and investing the money in what would be an unproven design doesn't ...

FRN Lockback Tenacious

I was helping a fiend put a new roof on his garage and we were jabbering about knives. We talked about the new FRN models coming out from Spyderco and we both agree this is the one we would want if we could have any.

Both of us love the ergos of the Tenacious, love the weight and slimness of FRN ...

I have thought about it...but G-10 holds a screw really well and I just drilled and tapped directly into the G-10. My para is 2 y.o with no issue so far.

The lanyard tube is fairly thin on the outside edges. You might want to mic it before threading.
In addition to prevent rotation of the clip you ...

Sander - It came mounted RH tip down. Sorry my typing error.

Donovan - The screw holes are all there for the other options, they are just not threaded.

Deacon - I'll give Spyderco a call and see if they can give me the info. If they can't I will just tap for a common screw. Would prefer to use ...

Need Help Tenacious Clip

What size tap for the clip screws? I bought one for a friend and the only holes tapped were right hand tip up. He is a lefty and wants to carry tip down.

1. Deep carry clip
2. defang the tang
3. Get rid of the pommel at the back of the handle.

What demographic are you looking to penetrate or avoid ?

SAK Red..it has that whole handyman non-threatening vibe. It is also one of the best selling colors for iPod, iPhone covers and the Motorola Razr. It's also an appetite stimulant

Another that is popular with the above attributes is burnt ...

Well I finally got one. Like it... impressions later. Do not take this the wrong way but it kind of reminds me in some ways of the BM Grip, especially with all the jimping.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the answer Deacon. Now that you mention that it is made of thinner blade stock the HG makes more sense.

Why Hollow Ground on Manix 2

Long time no see. Just saw the new Manix 2. Did sal ever post why they went with the HG? It was surprising to me since most Golden made knives are FG. I really like the choice of 154 CM though.

Thanks

Great review so far Vivi.

Maybe your work will inspire Sal to do a sprint run of ZDP-189 Enduras that are flat ground

I can see why they had to clear them out. The knife has to be used with the finger on the choil. This limits the grips that you can use thereby it's utility.

If you do not have your finger on the choil and lightly tap the tip it will close.

You have to treat it like a frictionLESS folder

I can't ...

Would it be possible by inserting a sleeve bushing, thereby moving the pivot hole 1/8" toward the tip, to make a slipjoint? You wold have to replace the magnet with a back spring.

Why is there a preference for the II over the 3?

It seems the flat grind would result in a stronger tip and be a marginally better slicer EDC wise.

I would go for a Captain

I have been thinking about that knife alot. I now see that Al-Mar has the Payara and Boker has the Rampage. All have similar blade styles. Wonder why that style of blade is taking off i.e. the recurved bottom with the bulb or tanto like tip. The Captain seems to be the most functional of all though ...
