Re: 2018 Forum Calendar Contest!

I almost forgot about this contest again, missed the last couple years. Chose the FB17P Hossom Forager which I've kept in my truck for years but barely used. The Forager feels great in hand, both grip wise and weight. Caught tonight's sunset outside after work so snapped a few picts. Kev. Forager_Sm...

Hey jmb,

I think like Deacon and Tap78 mentioned the DP UKPK. Or I think some online dealers still have the C105 75mm Persian 2.

Hey Paddy B, Too bad about the first knife you got. Hope the replacement you ordered is a good one. Been carrying my GB for a while now and seems like a pretty tough knife. The CF doesn't seem too easy to scratch, only a couple of small chips where it sticks out of the pocket. Hope you like the knif...

Took a shot of a Lava on a Lava rock. It's a nice little knife, looking forward to the blue G10.

Thanks for the views.
#4 has a finger print I didn't notice until after. I was debating between the first and fifth picture but I didn't have enough light.

I was able to get my order in. Forgot about daylight savings. Got on at 6:30 my time and order went right in. Took a little over 7 hours before I got an email confirmation. Got alittle nervous about that.

Hey excptnl, You didn't mention what range you were looking for the three stones. But I might go with other. I have a set of DMT's that I could not get used to the feel since I started with King stones years ago. I agree with Jack about breaking them in. I jumped in with a knife and got a few nice d...

Hey Buzzanr, Everyone's gotta start from somewhere. I have to agree with the advice of the other guys. I think you can learn technique and patience using what you have, but as JD Spydo said there are alot better equipment out there. Holding a consistent angle is the key in getting a good edge bevel,...

When I my set of DMT DaiSharp I made mistake of trying it on a knife first, got some nasty scratches. I ended up using one of my water stones to lightly break them in. I never liked the feel of the DaiSharp so they pretty much sit mainly unused except for stone flatening.

Hey JD Spydo, Not sure how hard Carbon V is but if it is like TedP mentioned that is like 1095, I use a metal file. Takes the metal off pretty quick. Leaves the edge with a nice bite. Like I said, if the steel is too hard you probably won't do much damage since the file would just slide over the edg...

Sorry for the delayed response, I don't get on very much. Its a 1200 grit bester. It is a little slow but it works. I have an extra Bestone 500 that I wanted to cut and reshape but I haven't had a chance to do it yet. I just used some emory cloth on the pipe. It took some effort but it works. Kev.

I cut a Bester 1200 in half and rough shaped the stone with a diamond plate. I used a piece of 12" PVC pipe with sandpaper to smooth it out.

Hey Tony, I'll just put a quick 2 cents in since there seems to be a few people on here that know a lot more about cameras than I do, judging by some of the pictures posted. I agree with Donut, it would depend on where you would be shooting. If are trying to get shots indoors or where you have low l...

Hey Tod,

Sorry to hear that your trip is for a memorial service.

When I go to Oahu I will usually try to stop at the two shops Spydie-50 mentioned. There is also a guy at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet that will have some Spyderco's but good luck trying to get the right boxes.

Thanks to the :spyder: Crew for doing a calender again this year. I decided to shoot the Salt-1 which is my beater edc since here in Hawaii we are often close to the ocean and have decent humidity. I decided to give it a ffg which I did by hand on some waterstones. The photo was taken down at Anaeho...

I voted other. I have a ladybug, photon light and truck key on a ring. Although it is true that I will have the ladybug even if I forget my edc since it is attached to my truck key and I usually can't leave home with out my truck, its just there as a small non-menacing looking knife I can cut stuff ...

Hey Ed,

That folding Santoku is peaking my intrest. I always felt having one would be handy. I tried doing a few sketches with no success, had trouble trying to tuck the edge back in to a handle and still making a lock work.
