I can understand why a dealer wouldn't want to accept returns, although as a consumer I feel differently about that.

But even a dealer who won't accept returns should be willing to inspect a knife. I simply wouldn't buy a collector's item such as this from anyone who wouldn't inspect my purchase ...

Steel would have to be held at that temp for an extended period of time to affect HT at all. Sure it may get hot enough to temper, but the temp is not sustained long enough to actually change the heat treat.

Deacon, I fully agree with you on the return policy for the sprints even production models. I feel its not fair for dealers to have worry about taking back a knife when a customer is not happy for some reason beyond the dealers control.

Did you ask him for a refund or replacement knife? The problems you're describing come from a manufacturer, not the vendor but vendors usually back what they sell then deal with the manufacturer for their satisfaction. That's how I understand it anyway.

I never have but I've heard others say he does that. But even if he doesn't I think he accepts returns like your example here ...

If you place your orders with SpydercoVT, I'm pretty sure he hand inspects every knife before it goes out. Also, if you call and ask them, a lot of places will check them out for you first.
