Re: Spyderco's Unique & One Of A Kind Sharpening Tools?

I have just recently gotten a Golden Stone. And I love it EVEN more than my Sharpmaker, enough so that I rarely get my Sharpmaker out. There is something seductive about teh simplicity and ease of the Golden Stone and just pulling it out and doing a few quick touch up strokes. I know there are prob...

Re: My GoldenStone came in

I'm a week in with my GS and I love it more than I ever did my Sharpmaker (which I LOVE). I did also figure being "white" it wold be equivalent to the white Sharpmaker rods. For me personally, the GS is the golden mean for sharpening. I've got my EDC red Roadie perfect, touched up a beater Kershaw, ...

Re: Am I paranoid about counterfeits?

I don't remember exactly how mine was packaged, but that sounds about right. I do recall thinking at the time that the packaging was very minimal. The Golden Stone is a great maintenance tool for quick touch-ups! I'm able to keep most of my knives very sharp with only a few passes here and there. Y...

Re: Am I paranoid about counterfeits?

Update - It is LEGIT. Just took my EDC red roadie and did 10 passes on each side and went to (clumsily) close the roadie and it caught my fingertip SHAVING off a chunk of the tip. Thank you Sal and Spydercrew. I've looked at the golden stone for a while and finally took the plunge. The simplicity is...

Am I paranoid about counterfeits?

Just purchased a Goldenstone from Amazon (super excited) it just arrived and the only "packaging" is the stone in its leather pouch inside a plastic baggie with a bar code. Is this correct? Should it be in a "blister pack"? Or am I just unnecessarily worried about fakes?

Thanks!

Stretch 2 thoughts

I'm getting back into knives and specifically Spyderco after a long absence and was looking at the Stretch 2. I'm rotating a Roadie and Dogtag as my office EDC in dress slacks where I try and be low-key. I'm looking for a "larger" model for my off hours. I carried a Delica for years and was looking ...

Dog tag decision?

I'm considering a dog tag and would love feedback on the differences and opinions of carbon fiber/g10 vs the titanium models. Appreciate any thoughts and input.

Re: Opinel question

I love my #8 in carbon steel. Super easy to sharpen. I did the trick I learned of "acid treating" it with an onion. When I got it new I pushed the blade into a large onion for 24 hours and left it. It came out with an interesting ring pattern and darkened. And this has been protective of the steel f...

Re: Boss tipped my domino

First off, I'm sorry this happened to you. I've "tipped" some myself and been through the same thing. My brother in law once borrowed a knife and 5 minutes later I wondered if he had tried to cut through a brick wall it looked so rough. I've started carrying a spare SAK classic so that when folks ne...

Re: .22LR rifle recommendations?

For a little bit different option, I would recommend a Browning SA22 or if you could find one of the Norinco clones of it. They are beautiful little guns and a joy to carry. They also takedown into 2 pieces for travel. Just a thought.
