Re: HRC Database
We did in fact for a lot of the tests. When plotted across all the runs and all the different steels at different angles and handness levels it was relatively linear. If the edge became unstable for the geometry, then it was more of a sharp drop or erratic. But Kevlar rope and high density ...

Re: HRC Database
We did this between 2014 and 2019. I can't remember the exact starting lbs that we had as an acceptable "range" 100%, but it was along the lines of "starting between 8-10lbs of force is acceptable, once 10-12 lbs of force had been gained the amount of cuts were recorded."
Based on the ...

Re: HRC Database
Just as a quick update, I've tested my St. Nick's Manix 2 XL and got an average of 64.7Rc, compared to 65.4Rc on the 4V Fradon Lock Manix. This is well within the range of factory heat treatment variations. Likely has nothing to do with the coating.

Re: HRC Database
We would run it over a quality scale with a silicone mat to prevent premature blunting, and once a certain amount of force was pucked up, the test was finished.

I will be testing a 3rd MagnaMax Mule today, for anyone interested. It's important to keep in mind these Mule's were made from the prototype version of MagnaMax from Crucible, heat 2 to be specific.

Brock O Lee horzuff Thanks guys!
So for the cut testing (controlled testing) if you're unfamiliar, as I'm not positive if I've described it here of not, me and my late wife used to use a wide variety of steels in customs that we had made to tge same geometry, often having to get them reground by ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Since the snow cover in the higher regions still is really not that great and thus skitouring not too goid, I rather do nice, short hikes in the lower regions that are still pretty much snow-free in the first place... Salt 2 always a great companion for that!

Here’s another one that seems fake. https://www.ebay.com/itm/157484436825
Photo 12 of the front of the box looks very fake.

The photo after that is worse, they don't spell "performance" properly. Feel bad for the person that bought it

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Yes, this one's definitely got solid slabs of FRN. As a side note, I see what people mean on Seki's FRN compared to other regions, it's definitely got a softer feel to it, which I really like. It's nothing glamorous, but I'm sure it'll make a great work blade😃.
As I told @vivi too, I'm ...

@Wartstein I know it's not a Spydie Edge H1, but it's the volcano grip, non coated blade Pacific Salt 1in H1 I wanted, some one used a sharpening stone to make the tip more pointy, which I honestly prefer slightly, but the price was right so I jumped on it. 😃
