Re: China

I would rather have better blade steel than better packaging. Where was the microtech made?
North Carolina or Pennsylvania, most likely.

Re: Golden Age of Supersteels Over???

The closing of Crucible (pioneers in tool steel powdered metallurgy) and losing the only foundry that could make 15V and REX121 was definitely the end of an era. Knife steel heads had it better than a lot of us realized, I think.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Your post encouraged me to order a NIB Sharpmaker as well, just now. (Thanks also for pointing out that Sal's instructional video was up on YT!) I hope I'll make it work, but I sure as heck won't practise on any Spyderco at first. :grin-sweat

Beautiful knives, there. I'm always somewhat ...

A BladeHQ SE Dodo, the Crucible PM2 and a resold, unused Sharpmaker.

Sounds like a really good solid score to me...

It was a pretty sweet deal. I've never owned a Sharpmaker and this one came in for under $50. It arrived yesterday and I've already used it to get very sharp edges on a ...

Re: Para Military® 2 Red/Black G-10 CPM® MagnaCut® Crucible

I went back and it let me put another knife into my cart and start the check-out process. Looks like you can buy more than one but you have to do it one order at a time.

This was an unfortunate challenge with the platform. We are reviewing each order, and anyone who ordered above the limit ...

Checkout was a breeze. 👍

The collector in me was extremely tempted to grab two but I held out and only got one to save some for the rest of you guys. :winking-tongue
I put two in my cart and it said 'invalid order.' Looks like they're limiting it to one per customer to try and suppress flippers.

Hey, I got one. And only one, as it seems to be one per customer, which is only right. Down with eBay flippers.

Re: Oddball blade steels

One of the biggest travesties of the whole thing with Crucible that I haven't heard anyone talking about is the demise of 3V.

I feel you. I've been picking up knives in 3V lately because they're still cheap, and it's a great steel.

I have heard from one of the biggest proponents of 3V ...

Perhaps also include a high carbide steel at a similar edge angle and ...
