Re: Favorite EDC steel

Sorry, I know it is a bit boring but I really enjoy M390 (or equivalent) for an allround steel.
For explicit cutting tasks, CPM 15V (BBB style) is really nice.
CPM SPY27 is the best runner up for easy maintenance and good balance between corrosion resistance, edge retention and easy of sharpening.

It is difficult to determine my favorite...
But the Balance is the biggest surprise, ever though the size is small.
An excellent knife in a convenient package!

Re: Jeff Loffer from Cutlery Shoppe the new PM2 in REX 121

I sharpen my knives free hand on diamond plates.
REX 121 is difficult to sharpen, not impossible, just challenging for me.
I have no issues with any other steel type, like Maxamet, K-390 or M398, but REX 121 is a lot of work.
I have not succeeded in sharpening my Mule HIC to a point where I am ...

Re: C'Mon Folks, cheer on the Button Up

The design is outstanding (as so many of Eric's are).
The lock is really good (I have only handled a pre-production model briefly).
The price is fantastic (but with that steel and place of origin, only okay).
The steel is subpar (AUS-8 equivalent in 2025, why?).

@Cletus
The "tail bolt" is the bolt close to the end of the handle.
It is also known as a "Barrel Spacer".

Re: Spyderco knife mods

I have made a combination of a PM2 and a Para 3.
The blade of a PM 2 (CPM 15V) modified to fit in a handle of a Para 3 LW (with a small modification to the "tail bolt"). It gave me 8 mm additional edge

Re: Can you do an inertia opening with your Sage 5 or 6?

Yes, I can.
I can also do it with Dragonfly and Manbug.
But I have been practicing for 15+ years.

I will upload a video of it soon.

Re: How reliable / legit is "SafeAndLockStore" ?

If you are talking about Fradon Lock Co., Inc., I think they are legit.
I have bought from them once and had the knife (pare 3 in Elmax) shipped to Denmark.
