Re: Byrd Finch and Starling comparison

I have both a Starling 2 and a Finch 2. I really like that they are both G10, both have full liners, and both have full stainless back spacers. The are very elegant little gentleman's folders. I really wish there were some Ladybug/Manbug options with this configuration (I know the pakkawood BHQ ...

Re: How to remedy blade hitting the leaf spring?

This part of the blade, the lower part of the ricasso known as the kick, is supposed to hit the inside of the handle first when you close the blade. Thus keeping the sharpened edge from hitting the inside of the handle. If you were to glue a very thin piece of material to the point where the kick ...

Re: Byrd Gooney

Let me start off by saying that we did Christmas early this week and I got 4 knives (3 gifts and 1 bought for myself). Those 4 knives are: Spyderco Manix 2 LW in M4, Spyderco Sage 5 LW in SPY27, Spyderco Canis, and Byrd Gooney.

I really think the Gooney is my favorite of the 4. It is just so ...

Re: Christmas Jester

Once again I do most earnestly beseech the Yule Lord for a CPM S90V jester before the old crucible stock is used up. Maybe in the color of winter pines, or the eternal snow-gravid shade of upstate new york skies. I reckon I am a population of roughly 1 in wanting this highly specific thing, but ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

my issue was not with the blade steel, but with the feel and action of the LW Manix 2. But I have decided to give the LW another go since so many others seem to love it

i have two sets of AWT scales for the LW that (along with a Flytanium ball cage) made all the difference for me. You may ...

WaderingAbout,

Sure looks and sounds like it was plenty good up there to this Texan...man 20 degrees and the wind blowing lol yikes,
Texas knows a thing or two about winter weather. I've experienced the blue northers and freezing fog y'all get in the panhandle.

Sv4,

Just what have you in the lanyard hole on that knife, or is that how the scales are? Really like the knife, nice sharp pointed blade design on it.

That is the "barrel clip" that was used on 3rd generation Seki models. My Tasman Salt has the same style clip. The clip attachment screws are ...

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

On Saturday I received my second Ladybug in ZDP-189 which completes my collection of "special" Ladybugs. The two ZDP Ladybugs were in addition to the HAP40/SUS410 Sprint Run and K390 versions. Both ZDP knives and the HAP40 variant were brand new in the box and accompanied by the original Spyderco ...

Re: Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holidays Sale!

I also have limited vacation time and vacation dollars each year, and I choose to use it for things that the whole family can enjoy (my wife and daughters wouldn't ...

Just got a killer deal on a Manix 2 LW mint M4 exclusive. The last time I tried a LW Manix, it didnt really do it for me and I ended up passing it along (white REX45). Maybe this time I will appreciate it more. I know many many people love the LW Manix. We'll see when it arrives

Re: Decline of serrations

Hi Jago,

Welcome to our forum.

We introduced serrations on our "Mariner" model in 1982. Over the next 15 years or so, many other companies began to introduce serrations, but not all serrations are created equal. Company's that had Serrations that didn't perform, or had sharpening issues, were ...

Just kidding, maybe just a little argument, some constructive arguing can be a good thing!

Here’s the question….what’s your best Spyderco? Not your favorite, not your prettiest, not your oldest, most sentimental Spyderco, your best built, most solid, the one that for years has made you say, man ...
