Hey everyone, I have several non-spyder's that need some sharpening and was wondering if anyone knows of a forumite or other person who will do this for a fee (or for free :p :D ). I'd sharpen them myself but am unable. Any help is appreciated.

It's easy to find charts where companies compare their own steels to each other. The tricky thing would be to find cross company comparison. I'd just try to make my own using existing data if I were you. A lot of manufacturers like to compare their steels to 440c as a benchmark. Here's where I got ...

Yep it's because of the work hardening properties of H1. Flat grinding is done on one side, then the other. hollow grind is both sides at once. When I look at the pic dapagco posted, the blade looks hollow ground to me.

Look on the buy and sell forums at bladeforums.com and knife-bst.com. I got a frn cricket for $30 at the second site. It feels better in the hand than stainless and it's much lighter.

you guys are awesome with the quick info! Any info on that Stag model,i saw one on ebay i think... seems like a strange version, Spyderco doesn't have to many company branded knives do they?.. Did they make alot of M4's .. i figured they would be higher up the chain, i guess I'm starting to see ...

Yes, Especially if you favor a certain color/material(Orange, carbon fiber, etc.) or supersteel (M4,M390,S90V). I own more sprints than regular production Spyders.

I've got a couple of Manix 2's and they don't have any visible flaws like yours does. Many people can be too picky, but I don't think that's the case here. Why not just exchange it for another one from the place you bought it?

Ok, thanks Blerv, I'm going to file down that burr, and when I get the time I'll pay some attention to the serrations. My initial idea of getting an ffg endura has kind of faded. I think I'm gonna just pull the trigger on the para 2. Not too fond of a back lock myself :P

I tend to change my mind on this issue, but I always go back to S90V. I look forward to the day when/if Sal gets around to making a larger Manix 2 because then hopefully a FFG sprint in CF/S90V will emerge.
