Re: Manix Monday

My Manix 2 Black Salt arrived today, on Manix Monday - how appropriate! I like how the regular G-10 feels, but I do like the special G-10 on the Salt model even better (and it looks good too). :cheap-sunglasses

I have the same scales on a Military 2 and I absolutely love the scales. I hope to ...

Re: Did you make the Nice List? (Spyderco Contest)

what has earned me a spot on the nice list...? yuck. no thanks. why would i want to convince anyone with why i'm worthy of a handout? don't get me wrong... i'm not opposed to giveaways in the least, but asking people to sell themselves by sharing their good deeds just seems gross to me.

I am also hoping the Starmate is released soon, preferably ahead of the January price hikes..

Rick, I haven't been around long enough to know if this is a thing, but is it a thing, usually each January?

I definitely give credit where credit is due, as we saw some price decreases ...

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*

Speaking of a premium Edgerati, Spyderco had a peel ply carbon fiber version at BLADE Show. It felt really nice.

Carbon fiber in the skeletonized handle? Hmm, sounds really interesting. I wonder if there are good sources of US-made titanium and just what it would look like to have them milled ...

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*

CQI them all to the lower weight.

I agree. After hefting around the G10/S30V Manix 2, and feeling the Salt, the Salt is so much better balanced. And the handle scales give it a premium feel. It's hard to appreciate it without first having a little experience with either the LW Manix 2s which ...

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*

Can you swap the blade from the Edgerati to the shaman?

I *think* the Edgerati blade is thinner, so in theory if you have the right washer stack, I think it could work. The opposite, I'm not so sure, although I was talking to one of the SFO guys today I think he was mentioning that someone ...

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*

vivi was asking about the balance of the Edgerati. Honestly getting it in hand, and knowing that the balance of the knife was something that had been brought up previously, I would say it was less blade-heavy than the G10 Manix w/ full liners feels handle-heavy. I didn’t really notice it at all ...

Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*

In order to take some clutter away from the Upcoming and Delivered announcement thread (per the intention of the thread) I thought it might be a good idea to have a place for the discussion of all the knives we are getting excited about.

And I do have some fun ones to start the discussion…

Today I ...

Re: Your best example of a Spyderco

I've had plenty of "lower end" models that were downright perfect in fit and finish, so it's not always the high end stuff. That said, the one that always comes to mind for this topic is the Vallotton. So many pieces, so much machining and finishing, there are a lot of opportunities to screw up ...

Re: Another thread for discussing a Chaparral XL - now that it came one step closer to becoming a reality

I'm also sort of wondering how much toughness, or resistance to breakage, a taller blade could be in the 3.5" length, as compared to the height of the current Chaparral blade. If it has to meet some sort of basic toughness threshold that the factory/R&D tests for, I'm betting that playing with the ...

I thought the wind was going to hit sooner, but we didn’t get anything until nightfall. Hard to fall asleep after that though. I heard 40,000 lost power.

@TkoK83Spy how are you liking your blacked out Lil' Native LW? Btw every one I've seen (including the one at the Seconds Sale) in the DLC has had that identical lockbar drop yours has.

Re: How to remedy blade hitting the leaf spring?

The other thing could be to observe how the spring is sitting in the slot when you take off one scale. If there is any play at all in the slot, it may be able to be shimmed on the side that would lift the spring up and away from the edge when closed.
