Great collection of knives and steels 🤩 i see you like modding, are most of the scales from AWT?

Most, yes - but i dislike the change he made to ergonomics on the Manix and Native. A few of them are ...

Native 5 Salt G10

Is it realistic to hope for a DLC-coated blackout G10 Native 5 Salt in the foreseeable future now that the lineup has the Manix 2 and XL slated for release? i sure wouldn't mind adding one to my daily driver collection.

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?

My absolute favourite in a vacuum is Vanax, but in the real world it's CruWear or MagnaCut. i use knives very unkindly and these two are very capable of tolerating it and then easily stropping back. Favourite high edge retention S90V.

Re: Titanium cutting boards

Grade 1 would be good best bet due to its softer, more malleable nature
Avoid 6Al4V (grade 5)

Re: Knives you wanted to dislike but ended up loving

i hated Spyderco design, how they all looked the same... Then i got a Native in CruWear and loved it. Then i got another Native in MagnaCut. Then a few Manixes. Then a Shaman. Then a Para 3. Then a PM2. Then another Shaman. Then a Dragonfly. Needless to say, i have twenty-some Spyderco knives at ...

Re: Does anyone use a S90V blade?

i am late to the party here, but after getting a Shaman in S90V, i am hopeful there will be another distributor run of S90V, particularly a PM 2 and a Para 3. It's up there with 10V in my halo steel echelon.

With a PM2, Para 3 and hopefully soon a Manix 2 Salt in black G10, i hope Spyderco gives us a DLC Native, too

Re: AWT Scales for Manix 2 LW Issue

@matthewkuhl Just to be clear you mean on the cage itself, not on the backspacer?

The cage is the plastic part the ball sits in. The backspacer is the lanyard barrel. The ball guide is what you have to modify. There is a groove in it the ball bearing rides in - this is what youy have to grind ...

Can you elaborate on this? Curious of what you mean exactly.
Remove material from the spring/bearing guide along its top (where the ball groove is). It doesn't take very much to do the trick.

Re: AWT Scales for Manix 2 LW Issue

My solution was actually grinding the cage to allow the bearing to engage more fully. Takes about 15 seconds on the belt sander and i do it to all my Manixes, LW or liner
